You can search exact date of birth in the 1939 register on Findmypast.
Thanks for this answer, Ive often been annoyed you cant do this on Ancestry and have just spent 'a while' searching with a first name and birth year as I have the dob and got to about page 3 of over a thousand names before I decided to look for an answer here....
This did work to a degree but one of the two that a had found the hardway were not on the FindMyPast list of 16, so it is not conclusive.
Wish Ancestry would spend time on worthwhile additions to their site instead of the rubbish they have added recently...imo.

yes thanks for these reply's - I do have all these records - it is just the obituary that I cant find with my subscription - I note that some of the best tree's that I come across seem to use Newspaper archives extensively - probably what I should subscribe to - I thought I had it with Ancestrys 'all access' but it turns out that any article that I am interested in has an additional subscription to pay...bit of a con on Ancestry's part if you ask me....

thought I would ask this question here as it was WHG's brother.
Ive just been informed that my Deceased half uncle had a newspaper cutting of the obituary of Samuel Griffith(s?) he was killed in action in France on 29th July 1917. His home was Fachell Bodorgan.(Anglesey) Why this is important is that it supposedly mentions an Aunt which could possibly have been from his paternal side.
Any ideas on where to look for the obituary?
Thanks.

Could these be similar :-\ - scroll down https://burialsandbeyond.com/2019/02/06/introducing-immortelles/

Kay
Yes the cage I mention is the type with the pointed top like a upside down hanging basket.
Thank you very much - I will add that link to the relevant graves to show what they looked like.

The Common Room / Caged glass memorial ornament

Hi - I have noticed these cages on memorials (always smashed) at Anglesey that used to have a glass envelope inside the cage and some form of ornament inside - I have searched but cant find what they looked like when new - any ideas?
Thanks, Gordon.

Census and Resource Discussion / Re: yet another GRO problem

Looking at the 1841 birth cert the OP attached above, I can see why the GRO has correctly indexed it as MMN (-). The mother and informant is Margaret Crudace (unmarried) but she names the father: Oswald Storey. This is an illegitimate birth. So what is the issue?

Ahh yes I can see what you mean - Thank you.

It is shown with no MMN, not "no father".

There have been previous examples of where the MMN is not indexed, even when the father is named

We seem to be going around is circles here - does the record attached have a mother's maiden name of Crudance or not? Is there a maiden name on the record that the GRO are advertising...NO

No that's not right at all.
The other I ordered was the one that they advertised on their database with no father and that is what I got.
This one is shown with NO father but as you can see on the attachment he has a mother and father shown.

I am most certainly not blaming the GRO for my erroneous assumptions and if that is what you are reading into this you are not getting the point that what I ordered a child with no father shown and what i received is a child with both parents shown!
