Well that has made me do some more work on tree. John Nott did marry twice, Martha Hannah Davis( b1834 )Wales, they had 2 children Eunice Drusilla b 1864, Frederick John b 1866, both born Worcester, came to NZ in 1874, Martha H died 1894, John married Martha Prouse 1895 in NZ. John died NZ 1910 71yrs, makes him born 1839. I think it was Frederick John who was the shoemaker, John was a coach painter. I thought John/Martha H,Eunice/Frederick John would be in the Worcester cencus 1871. Really would like to know Johns parents.
Thanks
Kay

Hi, It is frustrating, will just have to go to Glasgow, one day, a bit far, from NZ, to hop in the car. There never has been mention of family over there or letters etc in the family papers etc, so am guessing the father Mathew died before she came to NZ. many thanks for your help.

Hi Irret, thanks for reply, did'nt find it, am looking. I am really stuck on this one, according to M cert her father is Mathew, and she was born in Glasgow Scotland, abt 1835,M in NZ in 1865, D NZ in 1889 aged 54 yrs. family said when she came to NZ she was a medical type person, we have amedical box with Glasgow on it, that was hers. On M cert her name is Jane Slater Lang on D cert it is Jane Louisa. Hav'nt been able to trace her at all. Would appreciate anything you can give me.

Hi Floidagirl, Sorry to hear you are out of action, hope you recover soon.
Found on Scottish Doc reference to a Mathew Lang in Airdrie, Daimuir Dunbarton, Priestdale, of course have no idea if they are the Mathew i'm looking for or not.

Found on Jane's medical case 6x4", a lot smaller than i remembered it to be.

Not sure if that is any help or not. It still contains most of the 16 bottles and contents. Sister in laws think she may have been a midwife.

Hi Floridagirl, Had a look at Medical Registrars, no luck, with Jane or Mathew Laing. All we know for sure is that she was born in Glasgow 1835 m NZ 1865 and that she was some sort of Nurse/Dr, but i think never quailified, although praticed nursing in NZ, but not registered.
Thanks Dovedale
