Surrey Completed Look up Requests / Re: Thomas Parslow
« on: Thursday 19 November 09 18:01 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Jane &  Valda, Thank you so much for your replies to my query.
I  have a book "Inns Tavern and pubs of the London Borough of Sutton", Jane, there is a sketch of "The Rose" which I compared with the Frith Photo, I have just realised that I had been there once when I lived in Carshalton, can't be the one that was there in 1881.
This "The Rose" I have found was built in 1933, I wonder if it was built on the site of the one that was there in the 1881 census.
Next thing to do I will contact Sutton Local Studies Centre.
"The Cricketers" is still there on the corner of Wrythe Lane and William Street.
Thank you both once again for your help. I will now see what I can find out about "The Rose" pub that was there in 1881.
Regards,
Kaysy

A Thomas Parslow ( my 2nd cousin 3 x removed) in the 1881 census was a Beer and Wine Seller, at The Wrythe, Carshalton Surrey. My interest in this is, years ago I lived a short distance from The Wrythe. Is there any way I could find the address of the premises the family occupied.?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Surrey Completed Look up Requests / Re: William Nevard

Hi, Thank you for the information regarding Maud Parslow (nee Nevard). Maud's husband Charles Edward Parslow was only my 1st half cousin twice removed. I am afraid I do not know where William was buried. The only thing I found was possibly you know already that he died 1st qt 1916 aged 80, Kingston District Volume 2a Page 628. If you go into "Google" enter The Kingston Life Cycles Database,  enter the name Nevard and William, born 1836, it will give William's addresses 1871, 1881, 1891 census's.
Town of Birth in 1871 1nd 1891 census's mispelt.

Cambridgeshire / Re: Garners Of willingham Cambs

Hi Anne, Thanks for the information regarding Sarah, I will cancel the part about her having an illegitimate daughter Jane. Trouble is so many Haydons/ens in Willingham. If at some time to put matters right would it be possible to have the children of James Hammond and Sarah as their children would related to my wife. We live in Wisbech.
I have just been checking Parkerson's court appearances, at one time he was committed with 3 other men, one was a John Hayden in the report he was given 1 year hard labour 3 months solitary, General Remarks  a sly artful man,

Parkerson was aged 48, 9 children, (general Remarks a bad Character) Sentence: 7 years transportation. Labour Pickling Custody before: twice convicted of felony and 4 times for misdemeanour, Discharged 17.4.1851 removed to Wakefield Goal.

They were jailed for stealing 2 coombs of wheat and 2 sacks, the property of Asplen of Willingham.

At one time Parkerson was in Goal and stated he was not married, when he was.
If you wish I could send you the details of their jail sentence's, as an attachment.
Kind Regards,
Kaysy

Hi Anne, Richard Hayden and Elizabeth Parkerson were married at Willingham 26.11.1781. Elizabeth was buried at Willingham 25.11.1831. Richard and Elizabeth were my wifes 4 xgt grandparents. Did you know that Sarah Hayden had an illegitimate daughter, Jane, she was baptised 16.9.1836 at Willingham, was buried 24.9.1836. I did not know she had married a James Hammond.
Have you details of Sarah's siblings? if not I can send them to you. Sarah's brother Parkerson had a criminal record, at one time he was given 7 years transportation, could not have been carried out as he was in Wakefield Goal with 2 other men related to him for stealing Wheat. I have the court records. Perhaps poor Parkerson did not have a good start in life, he was born to Elizabeth 3 years after her husband Richard had died.
Parkerson married a Mary Curby/Kirby at Wilburton 6.10.1828, they had 9 children. Parkerson was buried 1878  and Mary 1875, both at Willingham in Plot 541.
While checking on Elizabeth Hayden's burial I came across the following which may be of help.
William Garner aged 69, Buried 1.3.1831
Thomas Garner aged 34 Buried 6.6.1831.
Edward Garner aged 26, Buried 7.4.1831.
Eliza Garner, aged 10 months buried 13.11.1831. All at Willingham.
Hope this will be of interest to you.
My wife was born at Over, next to Willingham.
Kind Regards,
Kaysy.

Kent / Re: Baptist Chapel Bexleyheath
« on: Friday 06 February 09 20:16 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I think you will find that the Baptist Chapel you are interested in is the one that was built in 1827 in the Broadway Bexleyheath. If you go into "Google" click on 2, then at the top of the page is "Ongoing History" if you click on that, first off there are couple of maps, the second one shows the position of the Chapel, then scroll down right to the bottom where there is a photo of the Chapel as it was, and next to it what was built in its place.
I believe it was demolished around 1956.
My paternal grandparents lived for a great deal of their lives in West Street Bexleyheath and are buried in the cemetery there.
Kind Regards,
Kaysy.
