Thank you, Stanmapstone, I had forgotten about those directories.  I shall get on to them asap.

Thanks also to Hackstaple, I shall look up Whitefriars Glass as that seems to be a good possibility.

Thank you both for your help.

Occupation Interests / Glassblowers in Islington/Clerkenwell
« on: Sunday 06 March 11 14:13 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

My grandfather, Charles Worth, was a glassblower.  In 1901 when he was 20 years old he lived at 5 Sheen Grove, Islington, Middlesex, and in 1911 he was living at 32 Buckland Street, Hoxton, both times his occupation was given as glassblower.  His brother Alfred T Worth was a glassblower in 1891, but by 1901 & 1911 he was a thermometer glass blower.  He also lived at Sheen Grove, but had moved on to Clerkenwell by 1901.

As it is doubtful that they would have travelled very far to work, does anyone know if there were any glass making factories in the areas mentioned above at that time.  Also, is it possible to find out which factory these brothers worked for?

Does anyone have access to the Alverstoke marriage register and could give me the full details for the following:

Marriage on the 2 Feb 1832  Isabella CASE of Portsea, aged about 20, and Thomas KENNEDY.

I am trying to find out where Thomas Kennedy came from.

Many thanks.

Thanks for the information, Wivenhoe, most of which I do have but there are some children for the Farr's that I must have missed.  The top reference you gave is actually my own webpage.

To Siouxsie, johngirl, tropicalj and aniph

Thank you all very much for the websites and ideas for tracking down not only Sarah Isabella Case but also her sister Emma and her mother Sarah.  Some of the websites I have already visited but there are some mentioned that I will most certainly have a look at.

You have all been most helpful as always, many thanks.

Australia Lookups completed / Sarah Isabella CASE (COMPLETED)
« on: Sunday 16 May 10 17:13 BST (UK)  »
Born on the 25th April 1846 in Sydney, NSW together with her twin sister Mary Elizabeth CASE and baptised at the Scots Church, Sydney on the 24th May 1846 to William CASE and his wife Sarah nee Tubby, both from England.  On the 7th Jan 1849 the twin girls, their mother now Mrs George FOWLER and a new baby Emma Sarah FOWLER arrived in Hobart aboard the 'Emma'.

Mary Elizabeth CASE married John Thomas HALL on the 31st May 1873 in Hobart, but does anyone know what happened to Sarah Isabella CASE?  The Halls ended up in New Zealand moving there in 1890.  Did Sarah Isabella go too, or did she stay in Tasmania?  Did she marry or did she die a single woman?  So far I have been unable to answer these questions - can anyone help, maybe some new ideas?

Kent Lookup Requests / Re: Margate Marriage c. 1836
« on: Wednesday 11 February 09 17:32 GMT (UK)  »
Thank you for looking; I'm not surprised there is no marriage or baptism in Margate though as this family seemed to live a life of lies.  The wife couldn't decide who her parents were, nor could she decide what her surname was.

Many thanks
