Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Re: birth burton-on-trent
« on: Friday 06 August 10 20:53 BST (UK)  »
in 1911 census lily (mother) was 20, so must have had Elsie when she was about 16yr. Lily had a second child in 1909 also born Burton-on-Trent, I have birth cert:of second child still, single, domestic servant. I think I will send for birth cert: saying mother's name is LILY PALMER, if not it will not cost so much.
LILY'S was born Henley-in Arden, living with parents in census.
The family were strict roman catholics

Hi I have hit a little problem with a birth date.
St Mathews church Gosport parish records, give the birth of Stanley Miller as the 6 June 1934. The birth certificate gives the birth as the 16 June 1934, which one is the right one.
Thankyou for any help.

Hi Brig
There are a few burial records held at the church in a small book, if there is somebody there they will show you.
One piece of gossip if you look round the columns you will see a little door, open this up and you will see the tree trunks that hold the church upright

H I Kerry

just read your list of deaths in Warwickshire, but no Eric Edward James Smith born 1908 Hockley Heath, drowned Hockley canal 21 Aug 1913, Inquest held 22 AUG 1913, Father James mother Ellen.
This was my wife's uncle.

Tried to get Coroner's report but told it was to far back.

Thank you for any info you can find on Eric

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Re: 1902 Alverstoke Birth Cert Query

Hi Sadie

Little Nell was correct with her reply to you but there was another prison in Gosport called Forton Prison, which is within walking distances of Moreland Road , it was in LEES LANE which leads from Forton Road to Whitworth Road. All that is left of the prison is the stone archway at the entrance, this now leads to the council housing estate.
Hope this is of some help

Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / Re: George Miller, birth
« on: Sunday 19 August 07 17:19 BST (UK)  »
Dear Welsh Lady

Haven't been on line for a while, so I am very sorry not to have  replied sooner.

The Thomas who was a sailor was also suggested to me as my Thomas, The IGI George could be if the gentleman researching this name is wrong.
I sent for a birth cert for a George born Neath, but wrong on father not Thomas. I have found another George born ELY June Q 1857, have not sent for cert yet as it cost £4 every time it is wrong.

Thought I found his death, sent for cert, died 29-8-1926 age 65yrs charge hand dry dock rigger, living Redlaver Street, West Cardiff, the informant C Miller Son. George never had a son C Miller.

Managed to find relatives of my father in Wales, but they had no news of George, which surprised me as I always thought the welsh were very, close family wise.

My father joined the Welsh Regiment when he was 18 and as far as I know never went back, he never mentioned his family to any us children .

He's out there somewhere

Thank you for your help
John
