To mcsearcher...I am sorry I have been lax in replying to your e-mail ref Martin family. I am 83 and find time flies fast  :(
I am intrigued though about your connection with my family Martin, would you care to enlarge on that?

I am after past and present family. Was it really as long ago as 18 months?? No the certificate only told me what I already knew.
I think I will need to go the next step to try and obtain my grandfathers birth certificate.

   Nice to be remembered   ;o)

Right this is where it gets 'foggy'.  :-\ The only info that I have is......1881 Census My William Martin and Sarah were living at 13 New Street Luton. William was 44, Sarah was 43, Jessie Ellen was 11 (born 1870?) in Luton, William Thomas was 8 (born 1873?) in South Shields and Francis Joseph (my grandfather) was 3 (born 1878?) in Luton.

I don't have any docs. to refer to re William and Sarah marriage date, indeed I have no docs except my fathers birth cert (which I have ordered) so am stumbling around in the dark .  ???

Any suggestions as to where I should go from here?

I am trying to piece together snippets of info. regarding my Great grandfather William Martin, I think his date of birth may be 1837 at Hemel Hempstead. He married Sarah who was from Ashbey, Cambridgeshire and they had 3 children, Jessie Ellen, William Thomas and my grandfather Francis Joseph. Does this ring any bells with anyone who may also be researching a MARTIN family??
Any information would be gratefully received.

Thank you bedfordshire boy for your welcome and the information you have given me so far. If this is my elusive family I am intrigued at the thought of one of them being born in South Shields, a far step or two from Luton. I will have to obtain my fathers birth certificate to see what info this can give me.

I have been trying to get past a brick wall ref Joseph Francis Martin or Frances Joseph Martin of Luton, he was my paternal grandfather born approx 1876. I know I had cousins still living in Luton about 1980, but have lost all contact with them. My father was William Thomas Martin married to Vera Florence (nee Horwood)  Is there anyone out there that can help knock down this brick wall??
