Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Unable to read name

Another idea is that she is is his gt niece.

Sometimes these things are more easily resolved going laterally ie to find Alexander's siblings & their children and grandchildren than puzzling over this one record.

I think it could be his gt niece, as I know all of Alexander's siblings and children down. I am trying to trace back Alexander is my great grandfather and trying to trace back his parents line I know John Sweeney married Mary Donovan in 1874 in Fermoy. His father on marriage certificate is Patrick Sweeney her father is John Donovan. I have traced John was born in Swinford Mayo from his army papers and from 1921 census Mary Donovan has her birth place as Midleton Ireland. However, i cannot find either of them's birth records or their parents marriage. So was trying to find a link through this neice angle. Thanks for helping.

There is a Midleton in Cork, but the name seems to have "dd" in it on the form.

The place name looks like the scribe has written Middelitom.
There is a bit too much going on after the "o" for it to be a simple "n", I would say.

So maybe it should be Middletown?

There are a couple of those in Ireland, too (Donegal and Mayo).

Thank you will look into this.

If you look at the column that says “both alive”.
The upstroke in Christiana’s surname could equally be an “L followed by I”.  (Lower case versions of course)

Doesn’t help though.

I’ve looked in Irishgen with just Christ* and no surname 1915-1917.  Nothing jumps out.
I haven’t tried a K yet.
Thanks for your help I have tried different versions but couldn't come up with one either.

It is difficult to pin down Marys dob it would be Baptism record as she was born prior to Civil Reg in ireland in 1864.
Its possible the following could be her parents deaths
Death John Donovan 4th Sept 1885 age 60yrs a Gardener Married Dickensons Lane Midleton Kate Donovan wife present
Death Kate Donovan 13th Sept 1898 Dickensons Lane Midleton widow of a gardener age 65yrs Nora Walsh Sister present at death. If I discover further information I will let you know. You could check the Midleton Parish registers on www.registers.nli.ie for Marys baptism
