Oh wow, thanks!

Here is the original reference, so are you basically saying he made the whole book up as a fabrication?  Personally I don't know enough about all this stuff, one way or another. I am a bit confused on this one, and scratching my head. See top right of page 122:

Hi, and Thanks!

Do you happen to have a birth record source link?  How about a record for marriage of Margaret?  Or maybe a Will source that gives the relationships of Margaret and James Leeper to her Seawright/Thompson parents?

I've seen four separate surnames connected to the VA James Leeper's wife Margaret, some nutcase was mixing lines and called her McCready, another person used McKee, and not realizing they are hooking folks from separate geographical areas and family lines.

I keep seeing folks randomly connect the wrong Leepers to the wrong Leepers who don't understand they are separate family lines, confusing wives, and making a total mess of the surname, and when you go to look, they have no sources at all.  Sad thing is people keep copying what is on those trees.

Ireland / Wanted Male Leeper, Lepper, Leaper, Leiper Y-DNA testers
« on: Saturday 14 January 23 01:51 GMT (UK)  »
I have been building a "Leeper" Y-DNA tree over at FTDNA based off their Y-700 tests and SNP mutations, to see how various "Leeper's" are connected, at this time the earliest MRCA is estimated to have been born 1279 and the surnames lines that connect to that haplogroup R-FTB6302 are of Scottish ancestry.  My own and seven others connect back to that ancestor, but through Ireland ancestors, our haplogroups being R-FTB76258 and R-FTB75688.

It is possible that additional folks might:
-One, get an idea of where they are connected to the surname
-2nd, help us in our research in the process, and better dating on the SNP mutations, helping everyone
-3rd, give you an idea of where your Y-DNA goes back to, much further in time than autosomal DNA.
-4th, possibly untangle some "Leeper" Family lines
-5th, become the founding member of a new Haplogroup
-etc.

So far we have 9 sets of results, and a 10th in process.

Donegal / Ancestor came to US in 1738
« on: Friday 13 January 23 23:28 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I just signed up today.

James Leeper (Lepper) with wife Margaret states in his Importation Oath that he arrived in the colonies in 1738 at PA from Ireland 28 Feb 1839 in Beverly Manor, Augusta, VA. He had a land survey done 30 May 1738, same place.

Various family histories mention Donegal, Belfast- County Down, etc. so I am not sure where to post this.

"James Lepper made oath that he imported himself Margaret, Nicholas, Sarah, Jane, Andrew, James, Guine, Isbell, & Mary Lepper at his own charge from Ireland to Philadelphia & from thence unto this Colony and that this is the first time of proving his and their Rights in order to obtain Land".

Folks estimate he was born 1695, he did pass 23 Oct 1763 in Augusta, VA.

Is there a way of seeing if there are emigration records when they left Ireland?  Y-DNA shows he had a brother or cousin Robert Leeper that came over about the same time, who settled in York, SC and passed circa 1795 from his will.

« on: Friday 13 January 23 23:18 GMT (UK)  »
I just signed up, I'm curious as to how a person would contact the folks in Dublin, to get a photo of the Coat of Arms, and how one would go looking for the Heraldry in 1189?

The general armory of England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales; comprising armoral bearings from the earliest to the present time.

Miss Jane A. Leeper, of Dublin, Ireland, daughter of Rev. Alexander L. Leeper, who for many years was Canon of St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin, Ireland sent this to a US Leeper long ago:

Original record is kept in Dublin.

The painting measures 6.5" by 8.5"
Described:

Motto- Regi Patriaeque--AZ--signifies azure, or gold or gilt; --sa-sable or black.

History shows that this heraldry was granted to one John Leeper for valant service to his country in the years 1189 A.D.

Did you ever find any information on the Leepers?
