The Thomas Rooney who is shown as married to the former Bridget Morgan also shows as being born around 1865. That would make him 26 in 1891, not 44. They are the ones who show as Owen's parents. But I also see, in a census record, John Martin married to Bridget, with children in the household whose last name is Rooney, as in step-children.

Yeah, I am getting a bit lost on this set of people. There appears to be two Thomases and two Bridgets, not counting children. There was a Thomas and Bridget all the way up to at least 1911, and then the Thomas who died in 1891. I am kinda confused on who goes with whom.

death 2 August 1891, Livenhall St, Dundalk
Thomas Rooney, married, 44, shoemaker, gastritis and debility, duration 6 months, informant: Peter Grimes, of Castletown Road, cousin of the deceased

There were 3 Thomas Rooney deaths in Dundalk RD between 1888 and 1894. One was a widower, another was survived by his wife Rose. The third was this one.

I don't think this is the one. Thomas, with wife Bridget and same children, appears on the 1901 census at age 36.

I'm doing you wrong there, this isn't the first time this has happened, this morning I could see you as having only 2 posts, the first one and last night's but now you are showing as having 4 posts, so I looked over the thread and there are responses to our questions showing now.
I gave up because it looked like you hadn't answered any questions but clearly you had, I have no idea why I couldn't see the answers, I had even double checked because as I said this isn't the first time this has happened.

It took a while for my first few posts to be approved by the moderator. No worries, I am grateful for the help.

Thank you everyone for your help!!!

I had located most of the info that you did, but it is a big help just to have others confirm it.

I am still a bit confused in one area, however. I know 100% that Owen Rooney was my wife's great-grandfather. However, there are some anomalies that make me question just exactly who his parents were. For example, the birth records clearly indicate his parents were Thomas Rooney and Bridget Morgan Rooney. However, the 1901 census does not list Owen as part of their household. The 1911 one doesn't either, but Owen and Elizabeth married in 1910, so he shows as the head of his own household.

At the same time, the 1901 census lists an Owen Rooney, among others, at 10 years of age, which would be his age in early 1901, but the household heads are John Martin and Bridget Martin. I am wondering, did Thomas die and Bridget remarry John Martin? I haven't found a death date for him.

Owen's death certificate in Philadelphia lists his parents and Thomas and Bridget, but under mother's maiden name, there is a dash written instead of a name, as if it was unknown,

Can anyone help me make sense of this?
