My mum was fathered in a relationship between my Grandma and a soldier from the Welch regiment. He was billeted near Mansfield after being rescued from Dunkirk. When he found out my Grandma was pregnant he revealed that he was already married and scarpered. I would really like to know more about him as I have already made extensive research into all the other branches of my family tree and i have this gaping hole. Does anybody have any idea where I could start? All I know is that his name was Ernest Harris, he was born about 1909 around Swansea, Wales and he served in the Welch regiment. I believe that is the Welsh and Cheshire regiment. Any advice gratefully recieved.
