Europe / Can anyone help with a German Divorce
« on: Tuesday 13 August 13 12:19 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to trace a divorce believed to have been registered in Hanover.
The original marriage was in 1973. The husband remarried in England in 1975 but I believe his divorce from his first wife was after this date.
If anyone has a contact I am happy to pay for the research.

Buckinghamshire / Busy Day?
« on: Sunday 06 May 12 19:37 BST (UK)  »
From what I can see

Susanna Collins married Elijah Willis in Hambledon on 12 Feb 1825
Their daughter Charlotte was baptised in Hambledon on 13 Feb 1825
Susanna Willis was buried in Hambledon on 16 Feb 1825

Could she have married, given birth & died all on the same day??

Also can anyone see what happened to Charlotte? Elijah shows up on censuses with new wife Ellen but I can't see Charlotte.

Buckinghamshire Completed Look ups / Re: John Carr marriage c 1832 Lane End?

Margaret,

also I think John and Sophia might have had an older
Josiah CARR, full age, bachelor, Shoemaker of Lane End, son of John Carr, Labourer married Charlotte X HAMBLEDEN, full age, widow of Lane End, daughter of Elijah Willis, Labourer by Banns Witnesses: Josiah Carr, John H Sharp

Matt

I know this is an old thread but I'm interested in Charlotte X daughter of Elijah Willis

I have Charlotte as being baptised on 12/2/1825 in Hambleden dau of Elijah Willis and Susanna
From what I can see Elijah married Susanna on the 12/02/1825 - the day before Charlotte's baptism.
Would Charlotte have already been born
I then have a record of a burial for Susanna Willice on the 16 Feb 1825
Could Susanna have married, given birth and died all on the same day???

Susanna was my great x 4 grandmother. When she married Elijah she already had an illegitimate son, James Plummer Collins who was my great x3 grandfather.

Thanks for your help.

Is there a reason why she doesn't show up on the 1911 census on ancestry?

Worcestershire Lookup Requests / Corris Lydia Huins 1911 census lookup

I thought this would be an easy name to track but no such luck.

I have her marraige to William Drew in Bromsgrove Q3 1926 and an entry on the BMD index for Q3 1902.

I'd like to find her on the 1911 census to tell me who her parents but I've been at it for hours and drawn a blank.

Can anybody see if I'm missing the obvious somewhere

Research Copies for Birth, Marriage & Death Certificates for Genealogical Research Purposes

Under current legislation, the GRO can only "release this information by means of the issue of a paper certified copy Cert of the relevant entry, and payment of the relevant statutory fee for a certified copy." We request that this House enacts legislation to allow the General Register Office of England and Wales the ability to issue "uncertified" research copies of birth, marriage and death certs - with a notice on the copies that they are uncertified, and have no legal authority - and that these may be obtained at a much lower cost than the current £9.25 per cert (eg £2) when ordered on-line and the GRO Index Ref is Provided, and that these may be issued in a electronic (email) format or a plain paper in the same way as The Rep of Ireland; this would enable family historians to buy many certs for their research at a lower cost" In the Republic of Ireland you can ask for an uncertified copy from Roscommon (their version of GRO) for €4.

Thank you to all for your help

A Q3 1856 death date makes much more sense.

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Burial Look up - Frances Burgess Poynton 1855/6
« on: Sunday 06 November 11 23:42 GMT (UK)  »
I've used the Cheshire online Parish register project which has given me a burial date for 33 year old Frances Burgess on the 2nd August 1856. (8560802)
Hovewer the closest match on the death index gives date of death as Q1 1855
Macclesfield Vol 1a p889
Seems a bit long to have the body lying around!
Could anybody cross check the burial date for me please.
