Antrim / Jane Marvel look-up

Hi, I am quite new to this site, but my research has thrown up my great-great-great grandma who was called Jane, and I think that her surname was Marvel (from a marriage search - she married James Jowett in 1878 I think!)

Anyway, I know from census returns in the UK that she was born in Belfast, but I wondered if there was any more to find about her. Anything that you can turn up would be most appreciated because at the moment it just says "Jane" on my family tree!

Co-incidentally we have experienced a similar event, my husband's aunt recently died on holiday in India. As next-of-kin he has been sorting everything out and this question did enter my mind.

There is no requirement for us to register her death with anyone here as it has been recorded in India. We have received probate and as far as I know that is the only "official" record of her death. Would the GRO liase with the Probate office??

Hi, I understand that there are monumental inscriptions recorded and lodged at Keighley library, but they are having a refurbishment at the moment and so their archive stuff is all boxed up. It could be that there are also copies at Bradford Central library which has a fantastic archive section on the 5th floor.

The staff there are very helpful if you telephone - I am sure that they could tell you if they had anything of use.

I live near to Bingley and I have ancestors at Wilsden and Cullingworth, good luck with your search.
