Australia Lookups completed / Re: Electoral roll records lookup

Wow!    :)

We still are in the dark regarding William Courtney, so any information you may have will be gladly received!!!

Should I send you a 'personal' message through this board to provide my email address?

All we really know is William was born in Cork, Ireland, he was a widow when he married Hannah, and have no idea how he got to Australia, where he lived ('shipboard' on his marriage cert??), and where he disappeared to in early 1900!

I know a bit about his wife Hannah, but William is just a blank....

Any information regarding where he came from/parents/family/what happened to him would be greatly appreciated - I have even tried jail records with no luck!

Thankyou!!!

Caroline  :)

Australia / Pentridge Prison records 1860s
« on: Sunday 15 November 09 10:11 GMT (UK)  »
Hello
I am wondering if Pentridge Prison records are available online for the period during the 1860s. In particular I am looking for any records regarding:
Mary Dark: who I believe would have been there for short periods in or around 1865.  I know of one date that and that is 12/4/1865 possibly for 8 days.
Her husband, Stephen Dark: Again, around 1865, I know particulary sentenced to gaol for three months with hard labour on 13/7/1865, and also 3 months 12/4/1865.
I can see on the Prov website some series but  when I look at them I just can't find the records - what am I doing wrong?  The Melbourne papers show them being charged on these dates...
Thankyou!
Caroline

Australia / Household Records Melbourne 1880s
« on: Thursday 08 October 09 10:25 BST (UK)  »
Hi!
I am trying to find out who was living with William Heslem in Nott Street in Port Melbourne  in the mid-late 1880s (he died in 1888). I can't seem to find records for households in Melbourne in the 1880s - can someone help me with advice on where to look?  I can only see electoral records from 1901.
Kind Regards
Caroline Courtney :)

Australia / Convict records in NSW
« on: Sunday 01 March 09 08:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone
It has been a while since I have been on this site!

I am tracing my family tree and have found two potential convict records on ancestry .com that I can't access as I am not a member.  Can anyone help me?

They are:
Stephen Dark and Mary Murphy.  I saw an application for marriage records.  I do know they married in 1835 in  Sydney and I have that record but I had no idea they were convicts.

Can anyone assist with me finding out more about them - any convict records
details of ship etc.?

Kindest regards
Caroline

Limerick / Re: Marriage in Limerick 1840-1842
« on: Monday 18 August 08 23:47 BST (UK)  »
Thankyou so much. Luckily I do know the parents names - they were Daniel Hartnett and Mary Connell (maiden name).

I believe Catherine & Patrick Kelly also had a child while in Limerick, 'John' Kelly who was born in 1851 before they emigrated to Australia.
