According to the 1891 Census, there was a photographer William G Wilson at 14 Victoria St Paddington
His two sons are also listed as photographers
Percival George Wilson aged 20
Harry James Wilson aged 14...who was also blind in one eye!
You can find out more about them on the historical photoLondon website
https://www.photolondon.org.uk/#/a-z?letter=w&page=5&name=Wilson

The Common Room / Re: Photo Album on BBC

Discarded photo album?
Usually no good outcome...
But a nice gesture of the album finder to try and find a possible family member.
Here are the names for Google !:
Janet and Peter married at St Mary the Virgin in Wistaston Cheshire on 15th September 1979
I hope they had a good life

Many thanks for the clean up and sharpening of the photo!
Yes, the original really is that bad....
One side of my family originates in Devon, the other WRY, they collided in London in the 1890s but I guess a photo with no names or location noted is of no use at all!
Perhaps a Rootschatter may one day identify them..
Cheers

Hi
This is a photo from a box of stuff of my parents.
I have absolutely no idea who the people in the picture are.
Would anyone like to guess the roundabout date it would have been taken and/or judge the approx ages of the sitters?
The reverse of the photo is printed so that it could be sent as a postcard but is otherwise blank.
This made me think it was a studio photograph but the quality is really not that good!
Do the clothes give any idea of status or  geographical location ?
I'm pretty sure it must have been taken in the UK.
Any ideas welcome
Thanks

The Common Room / Re: FindMyPast special Easter offer 30% off
« on: Saturday 30 March 24 15:56 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
as it happens, my subscription expires on April 6th. Usually, I take a break from researching during the summer months, but as I'm not convinced that even spring has arrived I thought this latest FindMyPast offer would be ideal, 3 months full access, super.
But it doesn't seem possible to simply extend my sub without paying full price.
Is there a way around this, apart from creating a new identity?
Thanks Rebel

Hi
an interesting item  and a lovely photograph, thankyou for sharing.
Perhaps you should include your Oma's full name or at least the Family name to enable others to find this info

I expect it is only a reflection but the shadow in the right hand window gives the impression that the right hand donkey stone went straight through the glass!

PS I'm from the South and have never encountered the word donkey stone
