Thanks Jim. It appears the woman is not Biddy who would be much younger than in her 60's. The children may be the grandchildren of the woman. I will look at other possibilities.
This is a big help.

The woman in this scanned photo is thought to be my G-Aunt. The children are unidentified but it has been assumed they may be two of her children. The source does not have a scan of the back of the photo. Biddy was born 1882 and had four children; boy 1901, girl 1906, boy 1910, girl 1918.
Is it possible to date this photo? Also an opinion of the ages of the individuals and any other observations would be a big help.
Thank you

Margaret - You mentioned you have not received new matches on Gedmatch for some time. I noticed the same thing but when I checked the Genesis site I found quite a few recent matches. I suspect the old site has stopped updating those accounts that have been migrated over to Genesis.

I would say the age is 60 years when I compare the various eights and zeros that the same registrar wrote on that page.

There is a death for a Margaret Smith Barclay, single, 11 June 1953 in Vancouver. Seems to be the right age, born Glasgow, etc. Father given as Alexander. Mother shown as Jean Dunn. However informant is a friend so may have not have known mother's maiden name.

Canada / Re: Ambleside, West Vancouver, 1959

The Vancouver Public Library has B.C. directories on-line that go up to 1955 http://bccd.vpl.ca

It also has additional directories (not yet on-line) that go beyond 1955 so contacting them would be the only way to find something for 1959.

I live in West Vancouver and visit the WV library frequently. I don't think they have directories that go back to 1959 but as suggested by Josephine contacting them would confirm. They are very helpful and obliging.

Ambleside was a small village in 1959 and came under West Vancouver.

In the 1921 census there is a Dorothy M. Wilson, age 28, divorced living at 1619 Cypress St., Vancouver. She is living with her mother Georgina A. Nichols and there is a 7 year old grand daughter in the household.

Having lived in Canada my whole life, I would say this is a typical Canadian house built completely of wood with cedar roof and wall shingles. The house looks to be early 1900's vintage built. The large trees do not have much foliage on them so think it probably is spring time since the grass seems dry and brown after the winter. There are evergreen trees in the background. As to location, it could be anywhere although I would rule out the B.C. coast since the grass is looking rather dry.
