Hi Silas

I am in Australia and probably a little further from the scene than you, I believe you are up Cumbria way.  My Australian relative who viewed my great grandfathers pile of bricks at St Oswalds in Methley and now we have located John Thomas in the same Cemetry.  I would suggest that as St Oswalds was the local church where all the Baptism and Weddings were conducted that this is the place were all the burials would have taken place, unless he was such a black sheep that he wasn't allowed to be buried along with the other brothers at St Oswalds in Methley, Nr Leeds.  My father is going to Leeds next month and I am going to ask that he takes photos of the pile of rubble for me!!

It would appear that the grave stones you have located previously for members of the Harrison clan are infact relatives of both Silas and me.  Stephen Harrison who died in 1963 was in fact the son of John Thomas Harrison who died in 1905.  John Thomas Harrison was married to Sarah Parrott who share the same plot, this John Thomas's father (Thomas Harrison) was in fact brother to our William and Abraham Harrison's.  So my Gt, Gt Grandfather was brother to Abraham and Uncle to the John Harrison that is in St Oswald's. Cemetery.  There is a connection and I know my Gt Grandfather is in the cemetery, but I have been told that his headstone is no more than a pile of masonry, by an Australian relative who was shown the plot in the 90s, by a Castleford family member.

Hi Marilyn

I have a sneaky feeling that some way back when, that you and I are related in a very distant way, but I am having great difficulty proving the link to the Falkingham Branch.  I have Thomas/William/Mary/Sarah/Abraham Harrisons in my family tree going back to Hive/Giberdyke/Eastrington as far back as 1796.  You mention William (c1835) being the possible future brother in law to to your Hannah.  I cannot prove the link and just feel it's just a matter of time before I link your Branch to mine.  Hope your search is proving fruitfull. All the best in your search.

Hi Peter

Any offer of assistance is most appreciated, no rush, I have waited 38 years to go searching for Thomas, so don't go too much out of your way.

Thanks again, I do look forward to hearing from you.

Regards
Mark

Hi Peter Piper

It would appear you are alot closer to Methley than I.  Apparently my Great Grandfather Thomas Harrison born 1868 was a founding member of the Methley Cricket club and died around 1953-4 at age 86, he was buried at Methley Cemetery and his wife was also called Sarah.  I can only presume St Oswalds as this is where all the Baptism's & Marriage's took place.  You offered Sila's assistance with a photo if you found anything.  Please could you assist me in my search of where my Gt Grandfather's headstone may be, I would love to know any small detail of his final resting place.
Here's hoping you can assist, I would take the photo myself if I could but it would mean a 24,000 mile round trip.

Regards & here's hoping

Silas, there are two Harrisons buried in churchyard of St. Mary The Less Allerton by Water but niether have a headstone or other marker,

However there are headstones in St. Oswalds Church cemetary Methley for
John Thomas Harrison died nov. 14th 1905 aged 43
and Sarah, Wife of the above who died Jan 2nd 1914 aged 58.

there is also a headstone for Sarah Ellen Harrison who died 28th June 1943
also Stephen Harrisonwho died 27th Feb. 1963
forgot to take camera, but can return and take piccies if you want,
both Churches are in the Diocese of Ripon and Leeds, so more records may be held in the Leeds Archives, where ever they are.
