Australia Lookups completed / Re: Marriage Lookup in SA for Lewis SMITH
« on: Tuesday 03 November 09 10:19 GMT (UK)  »
It certainly looks like Rosa and her family from all this extra information and now I have been able to find a death for her in NSW matching the parents names.

9504/1922 Rosa Smith - David and Elizabeth, Sydney

Lewis is another story though.........I am almost certain that he is also Lewis Gordon Shaw, a Master Mariner who married Louisa Dredge in 1892 in Sydney and had three children with her.  There are quite a few similarities but I am going to the library tomrrow to check some deserter, crew lists etc.

I have also now found a death - 10000/1917 Lewis Smith, par. Alexander

Haven't been able to find what happened to Lewis Gordon Shaw ???

I certainly appreciate all you have given me Dee

Thanks Dee, I was wondering about the BISA.  Lewis was a Mariner and I see that Glanville was in the Port area of Adelaide.  Rosa was supposedly born in London so may not have had any other family there.

Would someone be able to check if there was a marriage for Lewis Gordon Shaw SMITH please.

I have just received his son's birth certificate (NSW) and it states that the marriage took place in Port Adelaide 24 July 1876.  Rosa Humbleton is his mother's name.

There are children born NSW for this couple - Thomas 1885, Blanche 1889, Lewis 1891 and Janet 1894 so there could also be some births in SA.

Sorry I wasn't aware of any restrictions on lookups, but in this case I can say that both parents are deceased regarding Jennifer McNichol/McNicol.

Australia / S.A. Death Lookup please.

Can anyone help with a death lookup in South Australia for a Jennifer McNichol or McNicol parents being Bowman McNichol and Jean Laslett(Porter). The child was actually stillborn at birth. I'm not quite sure of the years involved but possibly after 1940. If possible also the marriage of Bowman to Jean Porter or Laslett. Jean was married to a Reginald Porter who died 1943.

thank you

New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: Looking for Charles Montrose
« on: Tuesday 22 January 08 01:42 GMT (UK)  »
Hi To patientgenie and Kea, I would firstly like to thank both of you for the info you sent. Helped me greatly in trying to piece together  the Charles Otho Montrose strain, as there are three C.O. Montoses that I know of. Can you assist me further regarding the following.
1. Children of Charles and Matilda.(on their son Charles death cert mentions a Brother in Law John Hill so he possibly married a sister to Charles.

2. Death of Charles Otho Montrose snr in New Zealand. I believe he was the one to marry Frances Irene Kemperman in 1896 as his son married my G Grandfather's Sister Gertrude Lucretia Dredge in 1892 and remained until his death in 1937.

thanks again for your assistance

Hi Deb, My line is actually the Elfenbein's of Goolwa. Caroline Minna Elfenbein is my Great Aunt. She married Thomas Godfrey 25/12/1881. Although not direct decendants I am still researching all ancestors related no matter how. If you have any info on them I would like to share it with you. The family lines related by marriage also include Harry Garnaut married to Clara Godfrey 4/10/1905.
