Have you discounted the Mary Wilkinson b 1836 Keighley in Flyde?
She is with the Shakeshoft family as a visitor and she is married.
3453/13/19

Is that in 1891?

Census and Resource Discussion / Can't locate someone on 1891 Census
« on: Friday 31 July 20 14:18 BST (UK)  »
I have been searching for Mary Wilkinson on the 1891 census. She was born in Keighley in 1834 as Mary Carrodus. She was married to Tattersall Wilkinson and was living with him from their marriage in 1855 until sometime in the 1880's.  Tattersall and Mary lived in Blackpool for about 30 years and sometime in the 1880's Tattersall returned to his native Burnley.
In 1901 Mary was living with a married daughter in Leicester and in 1911 she was living with another married daughter in Morecambe, but I can't find her in 1891.
Tattersall was a bit of a celebrity in Burnley and when he died in 1921 there were a number of articles about him in the local paper but not one mention his wife or children.

Lancashire / Re: Lancashire BMD Certificate Ordering
« on: Friday 09 September 16 15:07 BST (UK)  »
I have to say my confidence in ordering certificates through the Lancashire Free BMD online service has somewhat waned. I ordered a certificate on 30th August and having not received the certificate or an email to say it had been dispatched  I have just rung them to see what is going on. I first tried the phone number that came on the email  I received confirming my order to find out it is the phone number (03001231837)for the GRO, the lady I spoke to then gave me the correct number for Lancashire certificate services ( 03001236705) and when I rang them they told me that the waiting time for certificates ordered through them is now 3 weeks!

World War One / From East Lancashire Field Ambulance to Royal Flying Corp
« on: Thursday 25 August 16 16:31 BST (UK)  »
An ancestor of mine joined the 2nd East Lancashire Field Ambulance Brigade in November 1914, he served with them up to August 1916 when he transferred to the Royal Flying Corp, starting off in the rank of 2/am and then from October 1917 as 1/am, finally being promoted to ?PL mechanic in 1918. Has anyone else come across a man who started out in the army and then ended up in the RFC and later the RAF?

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Deciphering Army Medical Records
« on: Monday 25 July 16 20:51 BST (UK)  »
Thankyou Annie.  :) The Soldier in question James Henry Hough was admitted to Whittingham Mental Institution in April 1925 and died there 6 months later and having read that he was suffering from Syphilis I wondered if that was the reason for his admission. Of course unless I get a copy of his death certificate I won't know for sure.

Could someone please help to decipher the handwriting on a soldiers medical record? It refers to a soldier who was being treated for syphilis.
