Australia / Re: TREANOR surname - Goulburn, NSW and Tasmania
« on: Tuesday 05 April 11 07:12 BST (UK)  »
Hi Aurora
As J. Livingston used the Perth DPS to place his comments, there's a reasonable chance he lives in W.A. If you go to whitepages.com.au you will find there is only ONE J. Livingston listed in the whole of W.A. (there are 2 entries, but both for the same address in Perth).  It is an uncommon name without the "e" on the end.  How about phoning him or writing to ask if he is the J. Livingston who placed the Treanor information on the Perth DPS website?  Good luck.

It is possible they went to the mainland, as suggested.  There are Catlins in the early NSW bdm records which you might look at   -   www.bdm.nsw.gov.au
Searching is free.

Hi

Girnac is a placename in Glenmuick, Aberdeenshire, also the name of a river there (at least it was so in 1845 -  see  http://www.electricscotland.com/history/statistical/glenmuick.htm)

Hi Rory
If you Google "Indian Army records" you will find many websites telling you how to access Indian Army records. One I looked at  -  www.militaryarchiveresearch.com/Indian Army.htm  -  also says where to access records re those men who were appointed cadetships.

Thanks for your reply, Barbara.  I'll try an email to Auckland Library.

Hi Ellvera

I have just had a reply back from my email to Hamilton Library.  Unfortunately there was no death notice in the Waikato Times.

I guess my next step would be to check the NZ Times.  If your offer still holds, I would appreciate if you could do this for me.

Thanks, Janette, for your reply. I'll follow that up, using the sites listed on this board, but it seems unlikely.  Minnie married in Hamilton in 1913 and lived there mostly for the next 40 years, and according to her death cert "Where died: Woodcocks Road, Tamahere from Taylors /road, Auckland".  So she may have lived in Auckland for  a short time before  her death. Hamilton was her home and where she was buried. I have no idea why her death would have been registered in Wellington.  I am not a New Zealander and am not familiar with the system. However, her death cert states "Deaths Registered in the Office of the Registrar of Births and Deaths at Hamilton during the Quarter ending 30th September 1956".  Maybe at the end of each quarter copies were sent to Wellington??

My original request still stands. It is the possibility of family information that I am seeking, the kind you get from a newspaper death notice.  As her home had been Hamilton and she was buried in Hamilton I thought that would be the logical place to find a death notice.

If anyone can help with this it would be much appreciated.

Many thanks, Althea, but I am not after a photo of grave.  I am after any family details which might   -   if I am lucky   -  appear in the newspaper death notice.
