Dear Otto and Christopher, I am sorry Otto I didn't reply to you but I was not informed of your reply and only found it when Christopher's came through.  I do not know what religion they were but their children were Anglican.  I remember once seeing that their Mother was a Jackson but cannot find the information any more.  The writing is so bad on the certificat it could have been Ballinderry.  Hope this helps a little.  thank you for your help.  Sandra

Thanks Nanny Jan, got some information but don't know if it is relevant as George's father was Giles Loder and we don't know his mother. Does anyone know how to access names of Englishmen who went to India with the army?  Sandra

Thank you everyone for your help.  Yes Annie the first link is a distant cousin of mine living in Aust where I also live.  We don't seem to be able to go back any further than Thomas and Alice and it was the 1828/9 riots that he was involved in.  Sandra

Thank you both so much.  Tati you have the correct ones.  The other two children were born a little later.  The only girl was Roweena Elizabeth and she was my mother-in-law but she died soon after we were married so didn't know very much about her.  I got a lot of my information from Raymond Douglas who was knighted by the Queen here in Aus and was in our Who's Who.  The exact information I have is William George Goss Bap 5/3/1858 Devon England married 21/4/1879 Plymouth to Annie Johnson.  Died 6/7/1928 Brisbane Australia.  Amelia Ann born 1878 Devon Eng.  Edward William Huish bap 24/5/1872 St. Nicholas Bristol Parents Edward William Huish and Mary Ann lewis  Edward and Amelia married 26/3 1894 St. Nicholas Bristol and they emigrated to Aust in 1910.  It is mainly the Huish connection which we cannot trace back any further.  Thank you again Sandra

Have been unable to find any trace of Edward William Huish and Amelia Ann Goss who were married at St. Nicholas Bristol and had 5 children.  They went to America first but didn't stay and then returned to Bristol and then to Australia.  Edward Huish' father was also Edward William and his mother was Mary Ann Lewis. Amelia's father was William George Goss and her mother was Annie Johnson.  We believe Edward was a "lift driver" in Bristol and he was crippled but we don't know how.  Sandra

Interested in William Matchett born 1837 and who emigrated to Australia.  He was believed to have a brother Sydney John but this is unconfirmed.  His death certificate says ballinary but as he was in a mental institute at the time it could be any place similarly sounding.  Sandra
