Donegal / Royal Irish Constabulary record - John O'Hagan / Hagan
« on: Saturday 04 December 21 11:31 GMT (UK)  »
I'm looking for any information on a John Hagan or O'Hagn b.c. 1828 and died 9th Sept 1896 in Tonduff in Desertegny parish. John died unmarried and was listed as a retired Head Constable in the RIC. I've tried searching for an RIC record, but cannot find anything.. so I wonder if anyone could help me to find his service record?

Hi ForTheFamily,

My apologies, I haven't used Rootschat in years, but I have still been doing my genealogy off and on since then. I have quite a bit more info now on the Doran's (originally Dorian of Fanad) and a bit on the McGowan's. Not aware of a Toner connection, but perhaps we could swap notes and see what more we can discover?

Derry (Londonderry) / Re: Army Deserters - Fleming
« on: Wednesday 13 February 13 23:43 GMT (UK)  »
That post may have been a little vague...

John Fleming was born 3 May 1883, Eden, Co Derry. His sister Sarah was married and living in Upper Feeny around the time of the prison record. Family in Scotland did believe that he was in WWI along with his brother Thomas (who also later went missing in Europe.. presumed dead) but they did not know what became of him. Ive found no army record for either brother though. And Ive no idea who Bridget is.. Im just assuming she was his wife, but I had no idea that he married and can see no record on ifhf

Derry (Londonderry) / Army Deserters - Fleming
« on: Wednesday 13 February 13 23:38 GMT (UK)  »
I discovered 2 records on familysearch.org for 1918 in Mountjoy Prison of people whom I strongly believe to be relatives of mine:
John Fleming and Bridget Fleming listed as residents of Upperfeeney (Upper Feeny) and a separate record for Bridget (Brockagh Mountain). Both concerned army desertion. I believe they may have been married but have no record of this.. and does anyone know where I can find info on army deserters?

Any help would be appreciated.

Derry (Londonderry) / Re: Hugh C. O'Doherty - Derry City
« on: Saturday 11 February 12 22:31 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all, thanks for all your help!
The individual I'm researching is Margery Teressa O'Doherty (later Hassan) born circa 1858.. her father was James O'Doherty, and her uncle was supposedly an RC Curate, Patrick O'Doherty. I believe they were related to Hugh C.. but I can't find out if this is true or not!
Can anyone help trace Margery's parents?

Much appreciated,
Oisín

Derry (Londonderry) / Hugh C. O'Doherty - Derry City

I'm trying to find out more about Hugh Camillus O'Doherty (1856-1924), solicitor and first Nationalist Mayor of Derry.
Specifically trying to find out more about his extended family, as I believe a woman who married a relative of mine's in 1891 may have been related to him.
If anyone has any info on his background, or possible siblings, it would be much appreciated!

US Lookup Requests / Re: Hassan - New York. Help needed!

Thank you so much Sandra! That would appear to be him
Do you know if there's anyway I can trace him after that? I assume he was killed as he doesn't appear in 1870

US Lookup Requests / Hassan - New York. Help needed!
« on: Sunday 04 December 11 17:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I'm looking for a Dennis Hassan (b.c.1830) and his wife Catherine (b.c.1832)
Daughter Mary b.c.1857 in New York. I believe they also had a son called John.
Dennis had two sisters - Ann (b.c.1834) and Elizabeth (b.c.1836)

All this info came from the 1860 US Census..
I can go no further, and can't find the family after 1860
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
