Thanks for the link, I will look in detail when I have time, the family were braziers and went on to be umbrella makers, makes sense if you live in M/c

Thank you all for your help, I look forward to going to M/c to see the street, lots of other houses where my family lived no longer are standing.

The surname is actually McEwen but I was sent the ref and the person sending said it looked like McCome.

Someone else mentioned Angel St.

Peter McCome
Betty McCome
George McCome
Peter McCome
Toney Ellis.

Many thanks for your help.

I have discovered my relatives in the 1841 census in Manchester. The source information is HO107/575/13, the registration district is Manchester and the sub-registration district is St George and the EDn institution or vessel is 25.
I wondered if anyone could help me establish exactly where in Manchester that would be.
Many thanks

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: 1841 & 1851 Bradford Manchester

Thank you for spending the time looking. I eventually found him in 1841 in Manchester with his brother George (the one you found in 1861 in Ashton) but his name is down as McCome.

In 1851 he is in Wood St in Ashton but his name is spelt McOwen and George is in Crab St Ashton but spelt McQuen. This is what makes family history research so tricky.

In 1861 they are living in Wellington St Ashton RG9 2982/51b and the members of the household are

Peter McEwen Head age 27 Umbrella Maker Bradford Yorkshire
Margaret Do Wife age 26 Manchester lancashire
Francis Do Daughter age 5 Ashton under Lyne
Peter Do 3 months Son         Do

Thanks again for your time

Thank you for taking the time to look them up for me. I have found them at last but the surname was misspelt so that caused a lot of confusion.

Many thanks for your help, maybe the ones you found will prove to be related.

Hi

I wondered if anyone could look up if there were any McOwens or McAllisters in the 1841 census for Ashton under Lyne. In 1851 they are living in Crab Street and Wood Street.

Many thanks

I am trying to find my family in 1841. In 1851 they are living in Wood St Ashton under Lyne. The surname is McEwen but in 1851 they are down as McOwen. In 1851 I have Peter age 53 Brazier
                    Elizabeth age 53
                    Peter age 17 Brazier

If anyone has any info it would be appreciated.

Many thanks
