Somerset Lookup Requests / Edmund Harold Brewer
« on: Monday 16 April 12 19:06 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Thought I'd put this in as a separate request. I am looking for a marriage of an Edmund Harold Brewer who married Mary Hodges in 1855 he was widowed from Mary Hodges by about 1861, by 1871 he's then remarried someone called Catherine A. and I don't have a marriage for them and consequently a surname for Catherine. Any leads will be great.

Yes I have a tree on Ancestry and I have just started adding in some of Thomas's 1821 children with Elizabeth Brewer. You'll see I found a Will for this Thomas who died young and he left about 14,000 so yes the family did rather well. All the Brewers did well for themselves too in Bath and Bristol.
I'll email you and invite you too.Byr for now Clare.

Hi
I don't know if it's one and the same but I notice you have Thomas Butcher as having a son Thomas Butcher 1821. My family interest are the Brewers of Bath. I have an Elizabeth Brewer, who also came from quite a wealthy family marrying a Thomas Butcher in 1851, is this your Thomas? He was a Wholesale grocer and they were very well off.
Whilst not a direct ancestor it's always good to make other connections.

As a possible further confirmation, Thomas 1821 died in 1861, his executor was his brother a William Butcher, who I see in the list of births you have been given.

Somerset Lookup Requests / Brewer marriage look up
« on: Sunday 08 April 12 15:39 BST (UK)  »
Would someone be able to look up a marrriage for me for a Henry Frederick Brewer born 1829 in Bath. He married someone called Eliza, they can be found in the Cencus collections as early as 1851 where they are in Middlesex, although both are said to be born in Bath Somerset.
He was the son of John Andrew Brewer and Elizabeth Barrett.

Also Edmund Harold Brewer born 1831 brother to above. Married Mary Hodges 1855, she had two children George and Edmund, but Edmund Harold was widowed by 1861.
He's then found married to a Catherine A. ? in 1871. I can't find a marriage fr them and hence a name for her.

Thanks for any leads.

Somerset / BREWER Family Bath.
« on: Saturday 10 March 12 20:13 GMT (UK)  »
As it's been a couple of years since doing any of this family, I thought I'd send out a new request. I am looking into a Brewer family living in Walcot Bath.  My paternal g grandmother was born to a John Andrew Brewer in about 1863, one of a few children her father John c 1829 married 3 women Emily Burge, Matilda Conduit and Priscilla Huntley and outlived all three.
John Andrew was born to John Brewer and Elizabeth Barrett and I have a straight line back to all the John Brewers until about 1720 all in Bath, then the trail goes cold.
Anyone with any knowledge about this family and relations, please let me know. John Andrew was a Stocks and Share Broker. H e ended his days in Pultney Rd Bath.
Elizabeth married an Irishman called Daniel Riordan and was estranged from her father as a direct result of this for many years.
Anyway I'd be really grateful for any help anyone might be able to give.

The Lighter Side / Re: Who Do you Think You Are? - Monty Don

I can't say that this was a good episode for me.  Monty Don kept mumbling - despite rewinding, I still couldn't make out what happened to his brother and sister.  The story was 'fairly' interesting, but I suppose Dervla is a tough act to follow  :)

This really made me laugh. My daughter and I rewound this part about 5 times trying to work out what he said, we thought he said. my brother and sister had a car bunken and all sorts of other weird things, eventually we realised he said "Car crash"

To add to this the Brewer name can be added to the names of Chard,Butcher, Barrett(Worcester) who married into the Brewer family at various times.
