Mother’s family located - she is deceased, but found a half sibling. Thanks for help. Now I just have to find his father which may be much more difficult as all I have is a name :-)

Would you want to PM me her name and what you have found so far? I could take a look at it, if you like.

I did see three young ladies in Brooklyn with that surname in that time period at ancestry. Their given names all started with the same letter, which some families will do. I didn't investigate further to see if they were sisters or not. One in a college yearbook and two in high school yearbooks.

Message sent! Thank you

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Date a photo possibly from Hungary
« on: Saturday 11 September 21 22:06 BST (UK)  »
Hello:

A friend found a photo of his family from either Hungary or the US and thought it was from 1910, but it seems older to me. Any thoughts on the date? Thank you

:) That's a great start!

You might be able to find her if she later married by looking at obituaries for her parents (and siblings, if any) - they may mention her married name and even residence, if you're lucky.

Nothing. I’m really wondering if her given name was made up or actually a middle name. Worst case scenerio the 1950 US census is released next year and as she was born in 1942 or 43 should be on it… but not sure I can wait the suspense of 8 months 🤣

BINGO! What a help, thank you! I found her father listed at the same address in 1965... So Ive been able to identify her parents and grandparents, but as of yet, haven't found her, The search continues!

The Brooklyn Public Library has made many years of historical directories (address/telephone) for Brooklyn available here:
https://archive.org/details/brooklynpubliclibrary?sort=date&and[]=collection%3A%22brooklynpubliclibrary%22&and[]=subject%3A%22Telephone+Directories%22&and[]=subject%3A%22directory%22
 Up to 1967.

You might want to see if the address you have is related to any other Farrars - perhaps the other name is a relative of your friend's mother.

Hello all:

I'm a NYer usually on here trying to research my family in England. Today, I'm trying to help a friend who was given up for adoption in 1965. He recently obtained the name of his birth mother on his birth certificate and while he feels confident she may have died (due to rumors he heard about her life and the circumstances of his birth), he still wants to know about that side of his family. I have tried every search site I can think of, including old local papers and can find nothing on this woman. The closest I found was a woman with the same surname, but different first name, living at the address listed on the birth certificate. When I search for info on her, there is noting but the name and address. I don't even know if she is still alive. I don't really want to blindly send a letter unless it's a last resort.

The person I'm searching for is as follows:

Surname Farrar (I don't know if I'm allowed to post her first name in case she is still alive)
No birth father listed
DOB Cir. 1943 - Listed as 22 at time of birth in September of 1965
Residence -Brooklyn, NY

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

The second should be a name and address.

Thank you in advance.

One Name Studies: A to G / Re: BROADBRIDGE Of Stoke Newington area
« on: Tuesday 17 September 19 17:20 BST (UK)  »
I'm wondering if your Thomas was a brother or a cousin to my GGGG Grandfather Charles Broadbridge (1787-1862)? They were obviously the same family.. similar age, same profession and Broadbridge's in Stoke Newington. The "only" (Eleven!) siblings I know of for Charles were:

John , Elizabeth, William, George, Maryanne, Rebekeh, Joseph, Caroline, Henry and a half sibling, Elizabeth.

Charles' parents were John Broadbridge (1749 of Finsbury) and Elizabeth Crow for most of those kids and woman named "Mary" fir the 2nd Elizabeth

Then his father I have listed as a Henry BRADbridge & Elizabeth... Whether Bradbridge was the original spelling or just written based on sound I don't know...

David

Hi David,
I'm looking for the father of Thomas Broadbridge, a plumber in the Stoke Newington area, born in 1792 and married to Ann Morris. Have you come across him?
