Heather,
I have 6 months free membership to ancestry as part of the Family Tree Maker software, This has been a great help with the Engish side of my family, but the Welsh side has been a nightmare.
I don't have anything o the 1901 census

Thanks Heather,

where would be the best place to search for these?

I did visit the records office in Caernarvon many years ago with my half sister who speaks the Welsh language, which was helpfull as I seemed to be Shunned as an Englishman.
We were trying to follow my grandfathers line. John Douglas Lewis, it seems he was born illegitimate to Mary Ellen Lewis and was brought up in the poor house in Bangor, thats about as far as I managed to go back.

I am having great difficulty in finding records online of my mother and her family.
As far as i am aware they were all born in Bangor in the early 1900's
My Mother Magdalene Theresa Lewis b Aug 1925 had 7 siblings.
Ida, Idris, Gerald, Kathleen, John, Delores, Joan.
Fathers name John Douglas Lewis, Mother Charlotte Flanagan.

Why can I not see any of these when I do a search with Family Tree Maker?
Any information greatfully received.

Regards,
Ian

Thanks Jan and Yoke,

I have come across the PETCHEY m Elizabeth BATTERBEE but as you said I was guessing and now want to double check this connection and that the name PETCH possbly came from PETCHEY

I am looking into my grandmothers side of the tree, she is Helen Grace TIPPER b 1891 in Sussex m George Philip PETCH in Gayton Norfolk.

She shows up on the 1901 census for Norfolk at aprox age of 9 birthplace Sussex.

Would anyone else have been looking at this TIPPER family and if so would they have any other connections in that area?

REgards,
Ian
