Durham Lookup Requests / Re: Okeham, Durham

Hi Helen K,
Thanks for that. When I look closely I can see Oxclose. Not being familiar with the area does not help when deciphering place names.

Durham Lookup Requests / Okeham, Durham
« on: Saturday 25 February 06 14:05 GMT (UK)  »
My 3 x great grandfather, Francis Reay, is shown on the 1851 census of Howden as having been born in Okeham, County Durham. Can anyone tell me where in County Durham this is? I am unable to find it on any of my maps.

Could someone please look up Rebecca Jesney on the 1841 census? She married John Cox in 1843 and on both the 1851 and 1861 census she is living at Rockingham Parade Hillingdon. She was born in Lincolnshire.
Many thanks

Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / Re: GRASBY 1841 CENSUS LOOK UP VESSEY
« on: Friday 10 February 06 16:16 GMT (UK)  »
Your family are not on the 1841 census return for Grasby. There are two Vessey families - Charles age 30 Ag. Lab.  born Lincs.
                            Eliza      age 35                  "
                            Sarah     age 9                   "
                            Mary       age 9                   "

John Vessey  age 60  Ag. Lab. Born Lincs.
Elizabeth       age 60                    "
Mary               age 20                   "

Not sure if these will mean anything to you, but as they are the only Vessey families in Grasby they just might 'fit in' somewhere.
