From the Obituary, I read that he spent time in Avoca amongst the gold diggers; which was very pleasing to read, as after his sister Maria married Henry Rees 20 Aug 1855 Collingwood [Melbourne], they lived in tents for many years, whilst her husband searched for gold, before settling in Avoca. Thus, I am sure that brother and sister were reunited.
Okay, that means Maria has certainly arrived in Victoria, four years or more before her brother.
It is hard to imagine that Henry Rees, who lived in a stately home on a farm near Haverfordwest and now it would seem that Maria Brady has come from a farming family, have lived for years in a tent in the cold and wet conditions of Central Victoria where she gave birth to eleven children.
