She is tricky.  There was chat that she ended up in a loony bin.  After 17 kids (and 7 infant deaths) I am not surprised!  I am intrigued as to why you get involved in others searches?

Of course!  You are so clever!  Why didn't I think of that!  You are totoally right and this all fits.  Two William Peter's being involved was too specific.  Yes, his brother died in 1925, and so his father later in 1927.  THANK YOU!

I have just come across this which conflicts with what you found.

3 January 1925
Death John CARNEY of 6 Bushwood Road, Kew, Surrey, died 3 January 1925. Administration limited to William Peter Carney, assistant gas inspector company.  Effects £212.8s

The 1925 date fits better with WP becoming guardian in 1925.  1927 is too late.

This is very helpful.  Yes, I think this might be him.  His son, William Peter, is my grandfather and was a gas inspector.  Seems too much of a coincidence.  WP also took on the guardianship of one of his brother's chidlren (following both parents deaths) in 1925.  The original intended guardians were WP's parents, John and his wife.  If John died in 1925 this would explain why that didn't happen. Thank you so much.  Where did you access this information?

I know his marriage, children, censuses including 1911, dates joined and left police force.  I don't have his date of death, or for his wife. Interested to know if any other descendents are researching him.

James Duncan: An Enlightened Victorian by Andrew M Watson was published in July 2010 and is now on sale via the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh web site, at Benmore Botanic Garden, via Amazon and other outlets.  Fully illustrated.

Yes it was the Bay of Naples.  You haven't told me who you are or what your connection is with Benmore, I am intrigued!  We do not have contact with any descendants - yet, and as for the research materials and leads, these belong to my husband.  Once we know what your work involves perhaps we could arrange a meeting?
