To all who have helped me over the years re Rosboroughs - I'd just like to let you know that thanks to a Dave Bradley,I got my David Rosborough and daughter Mary Ann, sorted out successfully.
David was the son of David and Elizabeth(nee Rosborough too)Rosborough.
They had 6 sons  ?? Rosborough bc 1800 who went to Australia.
My David B 1801 who married  Martha Hamilton and had Mary Ann 1834
( Mary Ann married Alexander Gibson,my late husbands line)

                          Davids other brothers.

                            James b 1810  Banagher

                            Joseph b 1815      **
???  1820 who died in Ballyhenedin before 1901(Foreglen,near Dungiven)
                            John b 1825

Agettna, all my Rosboroughs are from Ballyhanedin Banagher and Foreglen location. Oldest ancestor was John Roseborrow his son was John Roseboro born circa 1829 Ballyhanedin, married 20th August 1850 to Nancy Ross at Boveva Church of Ireland. Died 1st March 1899 and is buried in Banagher Presbyterian Church. Could this John Rosborough be the one named above born circa 1825? we believed he had two brothers, but no firm proof other than Joseph and John lived beside each other according to the Griffiths valuation maps plot 5D houses a and b, and  a headstone is in Banagher Presbyterian Church to memory of Joseph and James from Ballyhanedin. All would match with your details other than the father of my John was John and not David and I cannot find a David at Ballyhanedin recorded on the Griffiths Valuation records.

I have also tested my fathers Y-DNA and both he and I have tested our Autosomal DNA all with Family Tree DNA and would be delighted to hear from anyone interested in taking  a test or who has taken a test and would like to get in touch.

Thanks hallmark for posting this response to my initial query, which I had found since originally posting the query.

Just to add to your comment I recommend that when searching for the name Rosborough on the Census returns, because there are so many variations in the spelling, it is best to search using a wild card in the following format

Ros*

In this way all surnames listed Ros are returned meaning Rosborough, Rossborough, Roseborough, Rosborrow etc.

Hi

Hugh & Margaret were married 08 Aug 1879 12 Clydesdale Place, Ruthergle, Glasgow, Scotland.

Thomas McKinley born Abt. 1883 - cannot read exact date.

Annie McKinley born 31 May 1885 in 609 Dalmarnock Road, Glasgow, Scotland.

John McKinley born 26 Jul 1888 in 609 Dalmarnock Road, Glasgow, Scotland.

Margaret McKinlay died 19th January 1910 in 14 Beechgroove Street, Glasgow, Scotland. Cause of Death recorded as Pulmonary tuberculosis, 9 Months; Intestinal Tuberculosis, 1 Month.

Have discovered that the son John McKinlay joined the 2nd Battallion Royal Scotts Reg No 2864.

John McKinlay enlisted in the Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment) Special Reserve on 7th April 1914. The Special Reserve was part time and started with six months' training with three or four weeks' training a year. As he was undergoing his training with the 3rd (depot) Battalion when war was declared, he was mobilized for full-time service. A depot battalion did not serve overseas, so he was posted to the 2nd Battalion Royal Scots on 7 October 1914 and sent to France where the 2nd Battalion was already serving. On 25th September 1915 he was reported missing after roll-call which meant that he had not returned from an attack. On 25th September the 2nd Battalion Royal Scots was involved in The Second Attack on Bellewaarde which was part of the Battle of Loos in the vicinity of Hooge and Bellewaarde Lake.
After he was posted as "missing" he was reported to have been killed between 25th September and October 1st 1915. On 1st February 1916 the War Office accepted that he had died.

Still searching for Thomas and Annie - Hugh may have returned to Ireland but am still searching.

Any help would be appreciated. Alan.

Hi Folks,

I am researching my Rosborough family tree.

PRONI hold the will of my Great Great Grandfather (John Rosborough of  Ballyhaneden County Londonderry dated 20th July 1897) he mentions his daughter being a Margaret Rosborough orse McKinley, wife of Hugh McKinley at present residing at 623 Dalmarnock Road Glasgow.

In the 1901 census of Ireland a search for Margaret McKinley located the following information.

Surname   Forename   Age   Sex   Relation to head   Religion   Birthplace   Occupation   Literacy   Irish Language   Marital Status   Specified Illnesses
McKinley   Hugh   55   Male   Head of Family   Presbyterian   Londonderry   General Labourers   Read and write   -   Married   -
McKinley   Margaret   45   Female   Wife   Presbyterian   Londonderry   House Keeper   Read and write   -   Married   -
McKinley   Thomas   19   Male   Son   Presbyterian   Glasgow   Flesher   Read and write   -   Not Married   -
McKinley   Annie   15   Female   Daughter   Presbyterian   Glasgow   Factory Hand   Read and write   -   Not Married   -
McKinley   John   13   Male   Son   Presbyterian   Glasgow   Scholar   Read and write   -   Not Married   -

A search of Scotland's People has located a Thomas McKinley - The image is very very poor and one would question even why I was charged for it - or am I doing something wrong with my settings? I can just about make out or am I guessing it states the parents are Hugh McKinley and Margaret Rosborough.

A search of the 1911 census for Ireland does not locate the family.

Can anyone help with any aspect of the information I have supplied even the smallest comment as in what the closest Presbyterian church would have been in the area.

I have yet to find births for Hugh and Margaret and the other children or find where the family went after 1901.

Any assistance would be great fully accepted.

Alan.
