Can anyone help identify the uniform this woman is wearing?
She helped smuggle a child out of the Warsaw Ghetto.
TIA

Europe / French birth certificates
« on: Thursday 01 April 10 18:16 BST (UK)  »
How do you go about requesting a French birth certificate if you do not have the father or mothers name. The only information that you may provide is the person for whom the certificate was issued?  Is this an impossible task?

The Lighter Side / Re: Blogging your tree?
« on: Friday 26 March 10 15:05 GMT (UK)  »
Blogger can be set up as a private blog, viewable only by those who log in with the appropriate approved email and password.

Publishing your family tree on a blog is a great way to share your genealogy and has become quite popular.

I wouldn't post information about LIVING persons, however.  That could get ugly with family members!

Blogging genealogy is a fun way to share with your family and allow others to assist you in your genealogy pursuits.  I enjoy it.  Once you publish your blog - you are the copyrite holder, even though you have not PAID for the copyrite, yet.

United States of America / Re: Morrison Scotland to USA
« on: Thursday 25 February 10 17:20 GMT (UK)  »
Thank you for your response.  Someone in my group is researching this family and would like to know information about the Morrison relatives who immigrated to the US.   You mentioned that there were three who immigrated, but that they were all girls.

Do you have their names, birthdates, etc.?

Where in the US did they immigrate to?

Did any of the girls marry and if so, who?
The only one that I have info on is Margaret.

Thank you!

Graveyards and Gravestones / Re: curious gravestone

I've noticed that in Europe, there is the habit of using initials ONLY in documentation as shown in this headstone.

Is there a history behind WHY ONLY the initials are given instead of full names?

Or is brevity affording the stonecutter no luxury? (i.e. it was the least expensive for the issuer?)
