Europe / SCHIMANKE, SHULZ, THIEME, GERMANY
« on: Sunday 08 April 12 23:28 BST (UK)  »
Hallo
I am sorry about my email being in English but I speak very little German,

I am trying to find information on my Grandfather Heinz Kurt Alfred SCHIMANKE, born in Gloddow, Kreis Stolp and the family. My Grandfather died over here in the uk in 1983.

The following information is all I have from the Family book and some kind help from a man on a genealogy list.

Any information to help point me into the right direction would be so very much appreciated.

Anneliese Maria Vera SCHIMANKE, born 15.10.1939 in Salzwedel, Nr.566/1939
(Believed to have died in Germany on or before 1947, I would like to find her death and where she is buried)
Her Parenets:
Flieger (military pilot) Heinz SCHIMANKE and Gertrud Dora Vera SCHULZ.

Her brother was b. 1942 in Berlin-Staaken

Heinz Kurt Alfred SCHIMANKE had the rank of
"Unteroffizier" (sergeant/corporal?) at the time of his sons birth.
 married 01.04.1940 in Berlin-Staaken and
lived at the "Fliegerhorst" = (airbase).

Heinz Kurt Alfred SCHIMANKE was born 05.01.1918 in Gloddow
(Standesamt Dammen Geburten 1918 Nr. 3)
mother: Herta Alwine SCHIMANKE, evangelisch
(My Grandmother) Gertrud Vera Dora SHULZ was born 17.05.1920
(Standesamt Berlin Schoeneberg Nr.404) (deceased)

Father: Otto Hermann Karl SHULZ
Mother: Elizabeth Agnus Gertrud SHULZ, Gerboren Thieme.
Her parents married in Berlin Shoeneberg 2 Nr. 320 on 25th April 1919.

I am told that the baptism had probably happened in church Dammen, the appropiate
chruch book is in State Archive Köslin/Koszalin
His birth could have been registered in Dammen.

The mother could possibly be:
Herta Alwine SCHIMANKE
* 01.02.1898 Virchenzin, county Stolp
~ 13.02.1898 Schmolsin
father: Gustav SCHIMANKE
mother: Bertha KLICK
I am told that A Herta Alwine married between 1918 and 1924:
Hermann Otto PIGORSCH * 27.02.1902 Dammen
They had according to Hermann Pigorsch's database 2 children, a son and a daughter.

I would really appreciate any help in finding some information or confirming some of the above.

Also... can anybody please tell me if my Aunty Annelise Schimanke died some time between 1943 and 1947 , why is that not in the Family book? where else could I find it?
My Father left Germany as a little boy with his mother and has never known where she was buried or how she died, please if somebody out there can help we would really appreciate it.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Trying to find out a bit about a house in Mold. It is no longer there but was called Rose Ville, Chester Road , Mold.
I think it but have been built early 1900's or even late 1800's.
Any information would be gratefully received.

Wicklow / Re: Lacey of Wicklow

The WALL family migrated from Dunlavin, Wicklow to work for a while in Dublin and then emigrated to the Capital of Ireland to set up home 'OTB' (over the bridge) which was an Irish enclave close to the docks were, most all of the Irishmen found work.

As kids we ran the horse betting slips from family tables to the back street bookies and, in our case the instructions were pretty clear and that was to deliver the bets and cash to Lacey's. I forget the street name but it was the next one down (south) from Lemon Street which is off Stanley Road, if I recall correctly it was a stones throw from Saint Alophonsus Church.

Anyhow there was a large Lacey family living in this home and as they were close friends of the WALL family chances are they left Co. Wicklow around same time.  The Lacey I delivered the betting slips to all those years since was probably born around 1900.

Hi Pete.......this definitely sounds like one of mine.....the betting slips and a large family :-)
I only know they lived in a place called Johnstown, inch, Arklow when I found them.  Any of that relavent to what you mentioned above? I don't know Ireland at all unfortunately.

Hi Paul,
Just found your post now as I didn't get the email to tell me someone had replied to one of my posts.
This sounds like one of mine, Mathew Lacey could well have been my Grandmothers brother. He married a Mary and Canavan was a name I came across often in my research of my own Lacey connections. Arklow and Avoca Co Wicklow also.
I would have to have a good look through my documents as its a long time since I did anything on the family tree, but I am sure this is  a connection.

Hi sgtrel
At the moment none of those really ring any bells.  My Lacey's were Peter and Mary all in Arklow, Wicklow Irealand.
They had a number of children Bridget being one of them (She is my Great Grandmother) but I am afraid I can't say I have come across any called William.
Where were your Lacey's born?
Thank you

Hi Tom

I don't know of any others thats the problem, all I know is about the ones I have listed and they are all down as Wicklow but there were more than likely others of the surrounding area's as I am not 100% sure of were they started out.

Hi Cara
I only have the information I have put on here, I don't have a large report on the Lacey family no, I may have missed that at some point.
I would love any information you may have on the family if possible.
Thank you
Jeanette
