George Henry Bailey was born in 1861 in Manchester and died 1906.  I have found in a newspaper cutting that said "At Manchester Coroners Court, yesterday, the jury returned a verdict of "felo de-so" which I know is suicide, he poisoned himself using Carbolic Acid.  Is there anywhere I can get a copy of this report or find more information on this.

Thanks

Thanks Heywood.  That looks a good possibility, I think I will order that one.  I didn't know Prestwich covered Bradford and Clayton though!!

Now I can look for the births of the missing babies in Prestwich too - which I had previously dismissed!

I have a feeling they were living in Bradford, Clayton or Openshaw rather than Gorton so I think you are correct that Joe Hewitt isn't one of mine.  There doesn't appear to be another in 1902/3 though.

Hi

I've just had a look at that.  I'm not sure to be honest.  There is a Joseph Hewitt born in Ardwick in 1901, but I think this is possibly to early because on the 1911 Census he was 8 years old, so the Joe could possibly he him.  is there anywhere I can check to find anything further.  I find it strange that only some of the children were baptised.

Yes it will be time consuming, but I think I will check 50 pages at a time to make it a little easier.  Hopefully I will find some more.  Does anyone know if Ardwick St Silas is on line?

I've still not been able to find from the FamilySearch the Christ Church records - I can only do it through your link Heather, that's why I'm asking about Ardwick St Silas.

Heatherjulie, thank you so much  for that, that's awesome  :) I'll have a look through that.  I have looked on that website but couldn't find how to get to the church records.

Hi

The children I have so far are:  Mary Hewitt 1896, Elizabeth Ann Hewitt 1899, James Hewitt 1901, Sarah Ellen Hewitt 1911 - I have Baptisms for these four.

I also have Joseph Hewitt 1902 (my grandfather - can't even find birth record for him), James Hewitt 1906, John Henry Hewitt 1908.

I have two missing.

Mary (1896), Elizabeth Ann (1899) and James (1901) were all baptised at Bradford Christ Church.  Sarah Ellen at Ardwick St Silas.  I have no baptisms for Joseph (1902), James (1906) or John Henry (1908)

Although I know James (1906 and John Henry (1908) were born in Openshaw and Joseph (1902) was born in Clayton.

Craclyn, I have done that and have eliminated 3 of the 15.
