Thank-you for hanging in .
My brief was simple , I thought .
I sought reference to eighteen-year-old Lilian Joyce Martin , who was working as a trainee nurse , at Claybury Mental Hospital ,
in 1939 .
Failing to find such reference , I branched out to look elsewhere for mention of Lilian Joyce Martin .
From there my quest took on a life of its own , with several findings including one within the 1921 Census .
It then became easy , too easy , to link this person to a family - the wrong family as it turned out .
With no relevant finding in the 1939 Register , the frustration continued . After all , she MUST have been listed in that Register .
So my own factual findings amounted to NIL .
To continue the narrative , based on evolving family lore , I worked on the following :new suggestions :
Lillian Joyce Martin was born Lily J. Adams , 23 August 1921 .
Her parents were Albert Edward Adams and Margaret Adams born Margaret Rawlings
Albert Edward Adams allegedly abandoned his wife and family within a year or two of his daughter's birth .
At some point Lily was taken in by her aunt , Louisa Martin .. The adoption was formalised in December 1930 .
Lily became known as Lililian Joyce Martin .
I have no documentation .
My thanks go to all readers and helpers , along with my apologies for sending you on a wild-goose chase ..
