Well if no father is on the birth or baptism it's not likely you will ever find out for sure.

How do you know James was the father of William Earl and how far apart were the boys born?

Court records for maintaining child and burden to parish, and he was in prison for to many illegitimate children,,there was 4 years difference between the two brothers

hi again
Got Great results last time so  i try again

Well same family of sorts
I am trying to find who the father of James Earl son of Esther Earl from Bramley
yet another illegitimate child and a brother to William Earl who was illegitimate to Esther Earl  and James Longhurst
Foot note there is a James Longhurst  in the area having a lot of children to other women
Also Esther Earl Married a William Warner who is also illegitimate, his mother is Leah Warner
And her sister Milly Warner had a  illegitimate child to a James Longhurst named "{Mary Longhurst Warner"
there maybe more than one james as the numbers are too many for one guy, mind you he did end up in prison..
And lived to a grand old age of 94 and buried in Christ Church Shamley green 11 Feb 1887

but my main interest in this post is father of James Earl, and i wont be surprised if it is that guy
so thanks in advance

William Earl 1822 -1900 of Bramley Surrey looking for Bastardy Records

https://www.ancestry.com.au/family-tree/person/tree/82764159/person/48466407267/facts

Hi from NZ been working on this tree for awhile and got most bits off his complicated life
he was Son of Esther Earl father unknown

Esther married a William Warner

Esther born abt 1798 • Bramley, Surrey, England Death 25 MAR 1875 • Bramley Surrey, United Kingdom

William was born 4 Dec 1822 • Bramley, Surrey, England
Baptism 15 Feb 1824 • Bramley, Holy Trinity, Surrey, England
Death 14 JANUARY 1900  Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
what i have found but not sure if him a William Earl married a Sarah Turner(died after a few months of marriage)
21 Jul 1851 • Surrey FHL Film Number: 397761, 397762, 397763, 97141
what was interesting was this William Earl listed his father as a JAMES LONGHURST
there are a few floating around near the Bramely area at the time
would love to confirm if this is the right William earl and this is his father
so would there be a bastardy record for the Bramley district that may have his name in it
William also came out to NZ and had at least on child there, this is the line i am working  on for a friend
he had more children in England and in South Africa
.but there is a big blank of years till he reached NZ
Last record  is as a rail laborer  in census
Residence 1851 • Orlestone, Kent, England
not on any passenger list,so maybe crew ,or came out to NZ to work on the railway been built at the time
I think his earl family worked at Wintershall or near by,his grandfather did live at  Little Gate St Bramley.
But in that area anyway, the tree is up on Ancestry and public, save me puting more detail down
I am just interested in his father mainly, and lost time
this maybe his passport number when he applied if him
30 Jul 1860 passport 29843 this may be him applying for passport
So thanks in advance for any help on this guy
