Hi Naomi and afternoon Marshall,

Nice to hear that the Hayling/s,Hailings family is spreading far and wide.

I've found Naomi's ancestor Philip, his wife and family in the 1911, I will try to attach it. (Ooops it won't let me)  Not sure how I can get the info to you unless I have your e-mail address.  Any ideas?

Marshall, hope all is well.

Morning everyone,

Thanks very much for the replies.  Doesn't it lift your spirits when you find a way though to some new info?

Does the little green icon underneath your name indicate that we can e-mail personally?  I'm new and not sure without reading carefully (just being a bit lazy here, but it IS Sunday!)

Carmel, we can compare notes if you like and I'll also wait to hear from Marshall.

Thanks again, cheers,

Joan

Hi there,

I'm in the same boat.   My gggrandfather was also a farmer.  When my ggrandmother married in 1871 at St Finbarr's South Chapel her  address was given as 'Greenmount'  and her father was named as Michael LEAHY, Farmer, deceased.

I know nothing else about her birth either. St Finn's don't have her baptism and St Finn's also cover the district of Greenmount so no clue as to where to go next.   Her name was Ellen LEAHY and we think from subsequent census' that she was born around 1850.  Age on marriage certificate is given as 'full'

I'm absolutely stumped.  Can anyone suggest anything??

I'd dearly love to break down this brick wall.

Thank you,
Joan

That would be really great thank you.

I did see Marshall's reply but I've no idea how to get in touch with him.  I'm also in Birmingham and I'd love to see a copy of the tree you both have just to check that what I have so far is OK.

This is really exciting!!

Thanks for your help.

I don't know whether it's too late to reply to this thread.  I've only joined this morning but this is my family!  How great it would be to compare what I've done  to something that's been done by someone else.

Is there anyone still out there?

Cheers

Hi Marshall,

The printing works in Oxford Passage was I believe started and run by Thomas Willey who was a Chartist of some renown.

After Willey's death it was run by Thomas HAILING who was the older brother of my great grandmother Unity Hailing.  Thomas was born c 1831. Thomas was his nephew.

I'm not sure whether you are still around as this posting is some months old but if you are I would be happy to share whatever I have.  With which line of Hailings are you connected?
