I just checked these against my list of macclesfield names and there are no matches! I am actually surprised when you think my husbands family has 6 generations in the Macclesfield area!

Ambly - I have no idea - I haven't got a copy of that certificate - and now I am wondering why the heck not! That would have the information on it. The other family member who has been researching has sent me copies of lots of certificates but not for that one. I will have to order it. Gosh this is a case of really not seeing the wood for the trees!

I am aware of those trees :) They are done by another member of the family - the logic of it seems a bit of a jump to me - unless he has come up with concrete information recently I am still looking at other options :) Sorry for the confusion :) Whilst it *could* be right - I think there are other possibilities :)

Europe / Louis Henry EITELBERG
« on: Saturday 18 July 09 15:44 BST (UK)  »
This is all great info(*) - I am looking for Louis Henry Eitelberg who according to census#s was born in Camden Town in 1860. However, we think he was born in Poland and fled over here. Having trouble finding useful info! I have a Leib Edelberg born in Tarnopol in 1862 - I am wondering if that is in fact him. I haven't got the right membership for the incoming passenger lists yet, but I guess that might be the next move....

I am Jo. I am researching a number of areas, including my mother in law's maternal family the Eitelbergs who apparently fled from Poland to England. Some of the family then moved to Australia but the eldest daughters had already married and stayed in the UK - my MIL is a descendent of this branch.

I am having trouble tracing any further back that Louis Henry Eitelberg born in Camden in 1861 according to the census's though i have never found any birth records. I suspect he was actually born overseas and emigrated here which fits in wityh family lore but am having trouble finding the info atm - especially with Jewish name changes and things - though Jewishgen is very helpful.
