Roxburghshire / John Coleman, Kelso
« on: Wednesday 25 August 10 20:16 BST (UK)  »
John Coleman born County Cork about 1824 appeared in the 1851 census of Kelso now 30 with wife Mary. I next found John in Alnwick, Northumberland in 1861 age 38 with wife Margaret aged 22 and son James age 4 born in Kelso.
Was Mary James's mother? did she die in childbirth or shortly after or was Margaret his mother?
Can anyone find a birth for James in Kelso(about 1857), a death or MI for Mary Coleman, and a Marriage for John Coleman and Margaret between 1851 and 1857, possibly an irregular marriage.
I am assuming that John was catholic but not neccesarily so. John was a wood carver
Thank you for any help
