London and Middlesex / Help needed finding the exact birth place of a William Edwards
« on: Sunday 19 February 12 14:06 GMT (UK)  »
Hello all

I need help finding the exact birth place of a William Edwards whom according to the 1851 and 1861 census was born in 1778 in London. He married an Ann Maizey (or Maisey) in 1806 and lived in the Oxfordshire village of Ducklington ever since. There is a link below this message which takes you to a census record of William on the Ancestry website.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Regards

The Common Room / Re: Ever heard of the name "Bouaty"?
« on: Saturday 14 January 12 17:33 GMT (UK)  »
I would just like to say thank you to everyone who has contributed to this issue ;)(sorry for the late reply).  Unfortunately the baptism record is the only source of information I know of referring to the name "Bouaty." I've tried searching for "Bounty"and "Beauty" on Ancestry in the London area however there seems to be no reliable results for the 1700s. It's a shame really because we'll never know for sure who this "bouaty" is and whether or not she was born in another country.  ???

The Common Room / Ever heard of the name "Bouaty"?

The link below shows a baptism record for a William Edwards whose parents are Richard and Bouaty. I myself have never come across the name "Bouaty" before but was wandering if someone knows if the name is a diminutive of another more common name.
Any help will be much appreciated

Hello all

I am trying to trace the parents of William Edwards and Sarah Warwick who I believe to have married in the parish of Whitechapel St Mary, Middlesex c 1771. They had a child called William Edwards in 1778 who married Ann Maizey at Ducklington, Oxfordshire in 1806.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello all. I am looking for any photographs/information about a Sergeant Harry Edwards (was known as William Henry on his birth and marriage certificate) no.7380 who served in the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry during WW1. Apparently there's supposed to be an article about him in the newspapers when he was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for bravery in 1915/16 however I am unable to find it. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Goodness me! :o The man who married Gwendoline Goodchild is a William Henry Edwards, and his father, Joseph Edwards might be one of Elizabeth's brothers according to the 1871 census http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?rank=1&new=1&MSAV=1&msT=1&gss=angs-c&gsfn=elizabeth&msbdy=1868&msbpn__ftp=Ducklington%2c+Oxfordshire%2c+England&msbpn=86803&msbpn_PInfo=8-%7c0%7c0%7c3257%7c3251%7c0%7c0%7c0%7c5280%7c86803%7c0%7c&cpxt=1&uidh=ibc&cp=11&pcat=35&h=14363007&db=uki1871&indiv=1 Thank you very much davidft  ;)

England / Maiden name help!
« on: Sunday 04 September 11 16:09 BST (UK)  »
Hello all. I've been searching for ages for the maiden name of an Elizabeth Goodchild, born about 1868 in Ducklington, Oxfordshire. She married William Goodchild (born 1863 in Thorpe Le Soken, Essex) and had one daughter called Gwendoline Goodchild. I've tried searching for her marriage certificate (from which i could view her maiden name)on ancestry however it came up with no good results. I will be extremely thankful if someone could please help me out in finding her maiden name. Here is the link for Elizabeth Goodchild in the 1901 census: http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=uki1901&indiv=try&h=3661534
