Wales / Morgan and Beynon at Eglwyswrw
« on: Wednesday 11 May 11 20:02 BST (UK)  »
Ann(e) Beynon , a widow, married Henry Morgan 11th November 1806 at Eglwyswrw (I don't know what county this was at the time).  They had 7 children between 1807 and 1823 and she died on 4th January 1844.

Would Beynon have been her birth name or her dead husband's name?  (I think she may have married a Daniel James 15th December 1803.

Any information about the county or these people would be appreciated.

Gloucestershire / Bakers of Coleford Gloucester
« on: Wednesday 11 May 11 19:47 BST (UK)  »
I am descended from Mary Baker, born Poolway, Coleford, Gloucester in 1785, married James Clark 1803 and died in Chepstow, Mon on 7th January 1885 aged 99 years and a bit).

On 1st January 1772, there was a Daniel Baker enlarging a Chapel in Coleford and on 1st April 1775 a Daniel Baker was the overseer for the Tithing of Coleford.

Can anybody tell me anything more about these people please?

I remember reading long ago that the Bodlian library at Oxford has an old book recording the tombstone inscriptions of Gloucester burials from way back.  (This was before the internet).  I have been unable to identify or trace this book and wonder if anybody else has heard of it or knows where I could see the contents (or even an index).

Family History Beginners Board / Search excluding embedded text
« on: Wednesday 20 April 11 20:16 BST (UK)  »
Hi, as you can see I am new here.

I have just tried searching for my HEAD ancestors but ended up with plenty of Maidenheads, headings and of course census family heads. I don't suppose I can do much about the last one, but is there a way of defining that I only want Head as a separate word for the search?

Thanks
