New Zealand Completed Requests / Surnames - Archive Lookup Requests
« on: Tuesday 29 June 10 14:00 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I'm repeating Riley's suggestion...

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,461006.0.html

Please enter the SURNAME you are researching when you make your post.
Not only will this make it easier for those assisting you, when they look to reply, the name will likely show up on an Internet search as well.

Who knows, one may just find a lost lost rellie ;D

Thought was given to combining all of these requests under one post, but it would be too complicated when it comes to responses to those request, so we're leaving them as individual posts for the time being.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Death 1851-1861 Delasalle
« on: Thursday 11 February 10 19:00 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

On 1841 UK census, Mary Delasalle was 65 (1776) living in Lambeth, Surrey, born Out-of-County, Independent Means.  With some enumerators following the "rules", her actual birth date could be as early as 1773.

However, on 1851 UK census, I find Mary Dellasale 76 (1775) visiting in MEOT Stepney, widow, household proprietor.  This time she states she was born in Christchurch, Surrey.

I cannot locate her on the 1861 UK census, and with her given age I think I can safely assume she died. >:(

Herein lies my dilemma.  I have trawled through each quarter of the GRO death index from 1851 through the end of 1861 with no success, nor can I "see" her on FreeBMD.

There is Mary Delasalle who died in 1850 in Westminster...this is NOT the one I am hunting for.

New eyes may be more successful in locating her, dead or alive :)

Thanks!

Grub

New Zealand Completed Requests / Old posts
« on: Wednesday 17 September 08 00:51 BST (UK)  »
Now that the NZ board is 19 pages long, if you could take a look at some of the old posts, and perhaps respond, it would be terrific.
I am asking because new records have become available, along with many new Rootschatters with great resources.

Don't forget to mark them completed...if they are.

Many thanks,
Grub :D

Hi Everyone

We know that the researchers on Rootschat do a wonderful job, but it would be a great help to us all if you could mark your request as "COMPLETED", either on the topic line or at the end of your original post, when you feel you have received all the help available.  This will save unnecessary time and effort by all.

In order to make changes to a query...there is a modify button on each one that you have posted...
For adding the word COMPLETED to your posting, click on modify, go back into the original subject line and add COMPLETE, or similar ...then submit!

Having trouble finding your original posts?

They may have been moved to the child boards...see top of page under "Emigrants to New Zealand" board.

New Zealand Resources: Don't put a request there, these are for resources only

New Zealand Lookup Request: If you need a lookup, specifics and information you already have are a great help!

New Zealand Lookup Requests Completed: If more or less completed....it will be moved from the general board...but don't worry! Replies and requests can still be made on that same thread!

still can't find your post..
go to your profile to: Show the last posts of this RootsChatter.

or....just use the search at top of page, put specific keywords in the left... put your username in also to the right if you know it is your post &  that will get you there as well...
( not using your username  may also find someone else searching the same surname)

Just make sure that your notification is activated for all your entries, and you won't miss a thing! This sometimes can get turned off so check it on your important postings....

Have fun and enjoy yourself!!

United States of America / ARKANSAS ADOPTIONS
« on: Thursday 10 July 08 22:42 BST (UK)  »
Hi folks
Does anyone know if adoptions were a legal procedure in Arkansas ~ 1880.
The family story is that Edmund was "adopted" by his grandfather and that they had to travel to Little Rock from Arkadelphia for this to take place.
As it is beyond the 100 year mark, do you think any records, if there are any, may now be available for public view?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Australia / John Alfred Wilson b ~1839
« on: Thursday 10 July 08 14:40 BST (UK)  »
Hi....

I am hoping to find pointers as to where to search for the birth record for John Alfred.

This is the information I have:

His marriage certificate (1886) states he was "born at sea" Hobsons Bay, Victoria.  Father: John Alfred Wilson, deceased, mother Ann Edith (Maiden name unknown.)
He also says he was a bachelor, and is aged 44. (thought this unusual at this age)

John applied for allotment in Darnum, Vic in 1881 so we know he was there then.

He died in Victoria in 1931, at age 92.  Father: John Wilson, sea captain, mothers name unknown.  Place of birth: Hobsons Bay, Victoria.

The DC states he had lived in NZ for 10 years and 82 in Victoria.

Lots of questions, such as would his birth have been registered as a "birth at sea" with the UK (imagine Dad was British), or could the ship have been on its way to NZ and was it registered there?

I know this is a needle in a haystack search, but fresh eyes may give me some new insight.

Australia Lookups completed / Death date, Victoria, please
« on: Tuesday 17 June 08 19:51 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I'm seeking a death for Harriet Eliza BAYLEY, b 1848, UK.
Spouse was John Henry.
I've been led to believe she died circa 1913 in Victoria.

AND
May I also ask for a lookup for her mother, Lavinia BROWN.
No details on her, but its not a usual name.

Thanks in advance.
Grub ;)
