The Common Room / I Can't find this family in 1911
« on: Thursday 21 July 11 14:24 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Just to make it plain,  I am not asking for a 1911 lookup (I know we are not allowed) just some help to check the indexes to see if I have missed something.

I have this family in 1901 in Fulham
Henry L Harris    45 commission agent born London City
Jessie A Harris    46  born Scotland
Henry J H Harris    19 solicitors clerk born London
Jessie M E A Harris    16 born Highgate
Ruth W Harris    15
Dixon P Harris    14 born Kentish Town
Edmund T Harris    12 born Kentish town
Edith T Harris    11
William J G Harris    8 born Brighton Sussex

I can find some of the children married and with spouses and families in the 1911  but I can't seem to find  the mother and father Henry Lawrence Harris and Jessie Ann Harris or the youngest son William J.G. Harris.  I have tried two different sites and looked at the death indexes and I can't see any likely deaths - can anyone spot them for me?

TIA

Hi

As you will see the date of the photo is fairly obvious,  but I would really like to find out a bit more about it.  I am fairly sure that my grandad told me this was his cousin Jack Probert and that he was in the Empire games,  but having checked the history of the Empire games they didn't start until 1930.  If it is the person I was told his name is John Thomas Probert and he was born in 1889 in Shrewsbury.  Has anyone got any idea where I might find out more?

If it was possible to clean it up and remove the mark on his face (is there a way to do this on the original?)  I would be so pleased.

Wiltshire Lookup Requests / ALEXANDER family Castle Eaton
« on: Thursday 07 July 11 16:05 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am interested in details of the Alexander family of Castle Eaton, particularly any likely baptism details for a Mary Alexander who married Thomas Sussex of East ilsley Berkshire in 1757.  I would love to know who her parents and siblings were if this is possible.

Wiltshire Lookup Requests / Marriage Bond 1733 William SUSSEX
« on: Thursday 07 July 11 14:20 BST (UK)  »
Hi - I have found in an index a reference to a marriage bond of 1733 for the marriage of William Sussex to (I think) Elizabeth Coxhead.   I should very much like the full details if anyone has them available.

TIA

Berkshire Lookup Requests / Marriage for William Sussex x 2
« on: Thursday 07 July 11 11:09 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am hoping to find marriages for 2 William Sussex's.  The first was born (I think ) in East Ilsley in 1707 but moved to Chievley where he had John in 1734,  Thomas in 1736 and William in 1738.  The family search entries don't give any clues to his wifes name. I think son William (b1738) moved to Newbury and had a family there,  I am looking for his marriage around 1765 possibly to a Priscilla,  and if he didn't marry a Priscilla who was the the Priscilla Sussex buried in Newbury in 1820 aged 79?

Any information about the Sussex family in Berkshire would be welcome.  I have the East Ilsley transcripts  and a couple of will transcripts of Sussex's in East Ilsley earlier,  but I am trying to find out what happened to the family after 1750ish

TIA

Hi

Would some kind person check if there is a marriage in Oxfordshire for a Thomas Wait(e) to Martha  ?  around 1745 in Oxfordshire,  their son John was baptised in Abingdon in 1746,  so sometime before that

TIA

edit -    just found another possible son born 1738 - so marriage could be more like 1736ish
