Nottinghamshire Resources & Offers / Info: Nottinighan General Cemetary CD
« on: Friday 11 May 07 23:26 BST (UK)  »
Hi

A new CD is out for the General Cemetary in Nottingham from Nottingham Family History Society. Please see link below:

a new CD out today call GENERAL CEMETERY - 23,855 Records
PRICE £21.00 WITH postage and Packing

www.nottsfhs.org.uk

The General Cemetery opened in 1836 with a dissenters' extension added in 1865.  However, the Society has recorded the memorial inscriptions (not the burial details), so the earliest date can reliably make out is 1801.  The cemetery closed in 1923, with only further burials being allowed in existing graves.

Nottinghamshire / St John the Baptist, Beeston

I need a picture of Beeston Parish Church pre 1844. I know there is one in the Peveril Series but do not know how to get a copy. Is there one on the web?

We are about to carry out major modernisation work in the church and a picture before the modernisation in 1844 would be very helpful on our display board. There is a picture in the Last Post pub of the church pre 1844 Peveril Series but I do not know how to obtain a copy apart from approaching the pub to borrow theirs. Can you help please?

If you need any information on Beeston Parish Church (St John the Baptist) please contact me.

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / William Ralph Burrows Artist
« on: Wednesday 28 February 07 00:23 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

William Ralph Burrows was born in Beeston Notts 1858. He married Elizabeth Fish born c1855 in Nottm in 1897. They moved to Rothley.

1891 census He was at Church Lane, Rothley.

1901 census He was a boarder at Anthony St as a widower.

Did Elizabeth have a child and die in childbirth?

William Ralph was a watercolour artist. He taught at a school, but which one? He also sold paintings. We as a family have 2 paintings, Swithland Woods and Cossall.

I would like to know:

When he died
When his wife died
If they had children
More about his art
Where he taught
If any paintings are for sale or available, or copies of those not available
Anything else about him

Thanks
