Scotland / Arthur Frederick Brown, born 15 Feb 1896

Hello,

I'm trying to find the parents of Arthur Frederick Brown, born 15 Feb 1896. He married in 1920, in Bermondsey, London, and on his marriage certificate it says his father is a Joseph Brown (deceased) a cab proprieter).

I've been told by a family of his that he was born in Scotland, but thats all she knows.

London and Middlesex / Trengrove Family

Hello.

I'm trying to locate the Trengrove family with me who lived in Streatham, Wandsworth.

Charlotte Howlett married Charles Rogers Trengrove in Wandsworth in 1885. They had 3 children,

- Celia Marallah born 1 March 1886
- Lottie May born 10 Sep 1887
- Violet Maud, 10 May 1889 (all baptised at St Anselm, Streatham, father is a Groom and abode is 4 Farnan Road, Streatham). I've checked the address in 1891 and they are no longer living there

Violet Maud died young, Celia died 1941 in Tonbridge District, Sussex/Kent, and Lottie May in 1901 is in Brighton working as a servant, she married Ambrose Warnett 1944 in Tonbridge and she died there in 1957, aged 69.

Charlotte also died in the Tonbridge District 1936 aged 80.

I can't find any of them in census' or 1939, I've hit a brick wall

Sorry to bombard with information and I hope it all makes sense

Norfolk / Robert Farrow

Hello everyone.

I'm trying to find the baptism/parents of Robert Farrer/Farrow.

He married Elizabeth Shawl in Hillington in 1815 "with parental consent". According to the 1841 census he was born about 1796. He then died in 1848

On his marriage his surname is spelt 'Farrer', and on the 1841 Census it is 'Farrow'

Hoping a fresh pair of eyes may help

Norfolk / Charlotte Howlett, born 1817

Hello.

I'm trying to find the parents of my 4th great grandmother, Charlotte Howlett.

She married James Park 19 Oct 1835 at St Helens Norwich, they had 10 children between 1836 and 1857.

On the 1851 census it says she was born in "Norwich, Norfolk", 1861 it says "Pulham, Norfolk", 1871 says "Pulham S Mary, Norfolk", 1881 says "Norwich, Norfolk" and then in 1891 it says "Pulham, Dorset". She died in 1893.

I've looked into a Charlotte Howlett, who was baptised in 1817 to a James Howlett and Charlotte Wright, but then found she died in 1838 aged 21.

Now I'm stumped. Hoping a fresh pair of eyes may help

Norfolk / Elizabeth Grimes nee Seaman

Hello.

I'm trying to find out more about Elizabeth Seaman.

She was born in South Creake in about 1803, to Thomas Seaman and Martha Savory. She married William Grimes 11 March 1828 in South Creake, had one child in 1829, who was baptised in 1833 in South Creake, but that is all I can find.

There is also 2 other William Grimes marrying Elizabeth's. One in Worstead, the other from Cley, unfortunately, their census entries are the only William and Elizabeth Grimes I can find.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Samuel David Blyth Burial 1923

I'm trying to locate where Samuel David Blyth, who died Dec Q 1923 in Barton upon Irwell is buried. His wife Eliza, is my 3rd great aunt, I'm struggling to find her death and am hoping by finding his burial I could possibly find her with him

Could someone help with dating this photograph please?

I know the lady on the left is Elizabeth Mary Bushell 1888-1952, and we suspect the other three ladies are her sisters. We think that, from L to R they are, Emmeline 1897 - 1945, Harriet/Hetty 1895 - 1913 and Kathleen 1892 - 1942.

South Africa / Edwards of Durban

Hello.

I'm looking into the Edwards family. They moved from the UK to Durban, South Africa sometime between 1901 and 1911.

Arthur Edwards, born 1873, and his wife, Charlotte born 1868 Bungay, Suffolk, and she died 31 May 1957 in Durban.

They had 4 children that I'm sure of.

Hubert Marston Edwards born 1895 in Bungay, Suffolk, who married Mary Florence Ridley in 1921.
Ivy Evelyn Edwards born 1899 in Brixton, London
Irene Edwards, born 1904, died 1984
Ethel Joyce Edwards, born 23 Jan 1911 in South Africa. She married Maurice Victor Schwegmann 31 May 1941 at St Thomas Church, Durban.
A distant relative has told us they had a son called Jack too but I am yet to find evidence of him.

If anyone can help fill in any gaps it would be much appreciated! I hope it all makes sense.

Norfolk / 20 Abbey Lane, Norwich? Mystery Address?

Hi everyone.

My 3 x great aunt, Eliza Blyth nee Smith had a son called Samuel David Blyth. They all moved to Canada, although I'm not sure Eliza stayed there.

Samuel David later enlisted into the Canadian Army, and on his Attestation Paper (attached below, I have no idea why it says he was born in Glouchester, he was actually born in Lowestoft!), he stated his next of kin as his father, Samuel David Blyth, whose address was 20 Abbey Lane, King Street, Norwich. I've been trying to look into this address, but I can't find it anywhere! I've looked through the 1911 Census and I found an 18, 19 and 21 Abbey Lane, but no number 20.

Does anyone know why this could be?
