A much documented fire in the newspapers of the day. I am intrested in George Kemp, cabinet maker and William Button, upholder who's premises on the corner of White Lyon Court and Cornhill were rebuilt after the fire.
On May 26th 1783 an auction takes place of the estate of George Kemp, Broker, 64 Kingsland Road, Cornhill . The front is 56 feet and the depth 100 feet. There are four rooms to a floor, with coach and outbuildings, stable yard and orchard. There is also the stock in trade of four soft beds with cotten, feather beds, blankets, quilts, mahogany double and single chest of drawers , chairs furniture etc. reference Morning Herald and Advertiser.
I don't think the present day numbering corresponds to the auction details of number 64.
I would like to now which the actual building is and if there is any references to its cost of construction.
