Norfolk / Isidor Lichtenstein 1813-1871 Russian?
« on: Friday 14 October 16 23:42 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I am seeking information on a distant relative.
He died in 11th May 1871 Smallburgh, Norfolk, England.
Born 1813? Russia might be Prussia?
First real evidence I have found is as a student at Queens College Cambridge in 1848

B.A. 1853
1853 ordained in Norwich
1854 Priest
1853-8 Curate of Wheatacre, Suffolk
1859-1866 Curate of Worlingworth-cum Southolt
1866-1876 Curate of Ingham, Norfolk

Just found this:
On the 29th March 1867, at Ingham, Elizabeth, the wife of the Rev Isidor LICHTENSTEIN, curate of that parish, aged 50. from Beccles & Bungay Weekly News 9 April 1867

Second Marriage: Helena Louisa Wymer  1836-1896 4th Feb 1869.

I have seen mention that his father was Moritz Lichtenstein 1831-1899 but that makes no sense as I think Isidor was born 1813 as I have found death age was 58, suggesting Moritz was his brother?
Mother is listed as Malchen.

Any help would be most welcome and I thank you in advance.
Kind Regards

Other Countries / John Rodgers born 1822 Bombay Presidency
« on: Sunday 09 October 16 23:05 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
This is all I have:
John Rogers born 1825 Bombay Presidency.
I assume it means Bombay, India.
But was this a son of Military person?
He was a Captain in the army in India:
John Rodgers a Captain in the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles), which would tie in with the 1871 census in London, and his marriage certificate. He retired from the Cameronians in 1851 but went on to join the 6th West York Militia.
Any help would be most welcome.
Thank you

Searched everywhere but i cannot find a marriage date.
Found a McElree website which says he was unmarried! attached

Canada Lookup Request / Gerrard and Ridge Family Regina, Saskatchewan-Alberta
« on: Wednesday 07 October 15 05:14 BST (UK)  »
Hiya,

I have been researching the Gerrard family and have found a few mentions of Regina, Saskatchewan for Elizabeth Gerrard born 1878 who married Albert Edward Payne 1897 in Fulham. Daughter Elsie May born 1900. Just seen some basic data for 1921 which says Hays Municipality, Red Deer, Alberta and child Renvers? misspelling? Sons Edward 1899; John 1901 and Albert 1904.
Looks like they may have come to Canada 1903-1906. I cannot locate everyone in 1911 census but in 1916 everyone except Elsie May is in Alberta. I have come across the Ridge family and I have a Sophia Elizabeth Ridge married Joseph Gerrard who we think died in Regina 2/1915 and she gives her address as Regina when she crosses into USA in 1915. Her Uncle Charles Frederick Ridge and Wife Mary and family had come to Canada and were in Regina, children Edith 1915 and John 1917.

Any help would be most welcome and I thank you in advance.
Kind Regards
Paul Williams
