Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / John Evans
« on: Saturday 04 January 14 16:46 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Guys,
I'm trying to find as much as I can about my 4th great grandfather John Evans. His daughter Elizabeth/Eliza Evans(born abt. 1835 in Pembrokshire) married my 3rd great grandfather Solomon Parker(born 1831 in Bedwellty). So the only information I have on John Evans comes from his daughters marriage certificate. It says that he was a farmer by profession, I assume he is also from Pembrokshire and going on average that most parents are generally 20 years older than their kids he must have been born around 1815 give or take 5 to 10 years either side. So you see my dilemma.A very common name in John Evans and a very vague birth year. The only other information on the marriage certificate is that Eliza Evans was residing in Star Street, Merthyr and Solomon was residing in Gelligaer Village. I know there's not much information,  but knowing how resourceful the RootsChat community is I hope you can help. Many Regards, Dai.

Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / Star Street, Merthyr
« on: Saturday 04 January 14 16:24 GMT (UK)  »
 :)Hi Guys,
Just got hold of my 3rd great grandmothers/fathers marriage certificate for 1859. It says that the residence of my grandmother at the time of marriage, is Star Street, Merthyr. I can't seem to find Star St on Google maps and wondered whether it still exists or has it been knocked down to make way for newer developments. Can someone please enlighten me as to the whereabouts of Star Street in Merthyr, if in fact it ever existed? Many regards David.
