Herefordshire / SHAMBROOK family
« on: Tuesday 06 December 05 18:24 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for any Shambrooks who still live in Herefordshire or if anyone knows anything about the Shambrook family in the area. My g-g-grandfather George Shambrook (b. 1859, Devon) moved to Hereford from Wales with his wife Louisa and children Ethel & Florence (twins), Harold, James and Percy. They went on to have at least 7 more children: Mabel Ann (my g-grandmother), Dorothy, Charles, Robert, Ernest, Ivy and Donald.

I know that Mabel, Charles and Donald died in infancy but nothing about the lives of the others, except Mabel Ann.

Anything anyone knows would be gratefully appreciated.  :)

Surrey Completed Look up Requests / 1841/51 census - Shults
« on: Monday 28 November 05 22:04 GMT (UK)  »
I would be HUGELY grateful if someone would look up James Shults or George Frederick Shults in either census as I have hit a bit of a brick wall. I am trying to confirm if the info I have been given that George was James' father is actually correct.

James was born in Norwood in 1920. I have found him and his family on the 1881 census. I don't have any further details for George other than he was married to Sarah Hands. Just to complicate matters, Shults can be spelt in a number of variants e.g. Shultz, Schults, Shutts, etc.....

Anything anyone can offer would be fabulous.

Ta very muchly!  ;)

Occupation Interests / Butler to school board officer?
« on: Tuesday 19 July 05 20:59 BST (UK)  »
My g-g-grandfather's occupation on his son's birth certificate in 1861 was domestic butler. In the 1881 census he is listed as a waiter but by 1885 he is a school board officer. How did one become a school board officer and what did they do? I'm assuming that they were the equivalent of a modern educational welfare officer, rounding up truants. Somehow it seems a bit of a leap from waiter to school board officer. ???

Anyone got any insights?

I would be really grateful if someone could look up John Thomas Clark in the 1861 census. He was married to Elizabeth, and their son Charles James was born on 17th March 1861. At that time they were living at 15a Cleveland Square, Paddington. On Charles' birth certificate, John's profession is listed as domestic butler.

Unfortunately, this is all I know about John and Elizabeth, hence this look-up!

The birth cert names them as Clark, although it would not surprise me if an 'e' was added onto the end of the surname in the census.

Big juicy thanks in anticipation!  ;D

This is the trouble with having an ancestor with such a common name living in such a big place!!

Charles Clarke, born 20th Jan 1860 to William and Fanny (nee Gardiner) Clarke.

Address: 7 Church Place, Paddington, London. (Registration district of Kensington).

Am looking for more information on Charles Clarke, born 1860 in Paddington. He married Carrie (possibly Pollard). I have found the family on the 1891 census in Islington but nothing prior to this.

I think I may have found Charles and Carrie's marriage but with Clarke being such a common name, I can't be sure until I have Charles' birth cert.  :-

Any help greatly appreciated -  frustration is starting to creep in......!

Somerset Completed Lookup Requests / Birth Lookup please - Bedminster Bristol
« on: Saturday 09 April 05 16:02 BST (UK)  »
Would greatly appreciate it if someone could look up the birth of Esperanza Le Vesconte, born 1869 in Bedminster/Bristol. I have found her on the 1881 census, but am not sure if she fits into my family tree as she is a boarder at a school.  :-\

Many thanks in anticipation

Devon / SHAMBROCK family
« on: Tuesday 29 March 05 19:41 BST (UK)  »
I am looking to link my Shambrooks with the vast numbers who seemed to have lived in Fremington and the surrounding area!

The furthest I have managed to go back is to James Shambrook, born circa 1832 in Fremington. Any info anyone can offer me regarding his birth or relations would be very gratefully received.  :)

I also have a lot of info on James' descendents if anyone is interested.

Regards,

Rosie

« on: Tuesday 22 March 05 21:14 GMT (UK)  »
Would really appreciate a look up of the birth of my g-g-g-grandfather Daniel Le Vesconte, born c.1828 in St Helier. The only other detail I know is that his mother was called Elizabeth.

Thanks in hopeful anticipation  :)
