Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Robert John Griffiths
« on: Tuesday 29 May 07 14:36 BST (UK)  »
Hello, I am uploading a sepia photo of my grandfather's brother called Rob who died aged 29 in 1922 due to a lifelong illness.  He was born in Blaenau Festiniog 1893 and could not go to WW1 due to his asthma and chest infections, etc.  The photo looks like he only has one hand but my grandfather assured me he had both hands!  The reverse side says it was produced by Wm. Roberts of 6 Pentre-T-Fedw of Llanrwst.  As they lived in Bettws Y Coed where their father was a railwayman it is likely to be taken somewhere in Bettws I think because of the mossy rocks behind him.

The photo normally sits in an old original rectangular frame with an oval centre surrounded by silver paper, some coloured, as was traditional in those days, I believe and I thought it was worth colouring up.

Anyway those are the details, please can some kind soul see if they can tidy it up a bit and perhaps colourize it, maybe brown or blue suit?  See what you think but does he seem to have a beauty spot/mole on his chin?
Kind regards Gareth.

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / West Brom, Barton Street
« on: Tuesday 08 May 07 16:31 BST (UK)  »
Hi I am looking for someone named Emily Ann Bonner dau to Joseph Bonner and Sarah nee Smith.  Emily Ann was born in 1863 and her birth cert reads she was born at Barton Street, West Bromwich.  Are the family living there in 1861?  Need reference please.

Can someone please either take a look or provide me with a reference for Barton St either West Brom North East or South West and then the district no. as there are quite a lot to look though.  Perhaps someone can give me a pointer?

Bonner may read some other variation like Banner, Bunner, Bunher etc. Just cant find the family in 1861 census at all, Joseph was born Westoning Beds and wife Sarah nee Smith was born Lichfield.

what County is West Brom (Barton Street)?
Thanks Gareth

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Bonner at Winwick Asylum
« on: Thursday 03 May 07 20:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi, We are having great difficulty in finding the grave of Henry Marshall Bonner who died 27 January 1934 at County Mental Hospital, Winwick, Warrington Rural District.  He came from Caledonia St., Liverpool and also from Grove St., Stockton on Tees and both addresses are shown on his death certificate.

What cemeteries are there locally to Winwick where he could be buried?
Was there a cemetery within the Winwick Asylum hospital grounds?
What cemeteries surround Caledonia St., Liverpool?

Does anyone have any records of where he may be buried such as indexes, if so please can you take a chance look for us, thank you.
regards Gareth

OLD PHOTO ALBUM 1893 TURNBULL / HAWORTH NEWCASTLE
see http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OLD-PHOTO-ALBUM-1893-TURNBULL-HAWORTH-NEWCASTLE_W0QQitemZ320048146822QQihZ011QQcategoryZ26265QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item320048146822

Description-
A superb Victorian photo album dated 1893 containing 42 cabinet photographs. The album is bound in a plush plum-coloured velvet with heavy metal clasp and metal escutcheon which is engraved 'Presented to Miss M Turnbull on the Occasion of her Marriage, from her friend Miss A Haworth, Xmas 1893'. Further to this all I can confirm is that the album was acquired in the North-East of England / Newcastle area and that I believe all the photos to be of the same family / friends circle.
There are a total of 18 board-pages, the first of which is titled 'THE PRESENTATION SONG ALBUM'. The remaining pages have coloured lithographed ornamental graphics one side and are plain the other so the album has alternate decorated and plain boards. The front-page is inscribed in pencil from Miss Haworth to Miss Turnbull. The photos themselves are all of people and include babies, children, adults, housekeepers / servants and a clergyman.

Hope someone is succesful,
regards Gareth

Berkshire Lookup Requests / Benedicta SHAW died 1924
« on: Thursday 16 November 06 16:04 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I am interested in Benedicta Shaw died aged 85 in the March Quarter 1924 in Wokingham district vol. 2c page 608.  Perhaps someone could look up to see if she is buried in Wokingham district but I dont know which parish?

Maybe other members of her family still live in the area, I think her maiden name was Benedicta Tunstall from Goldenhill, Stoke on Trent born 1838.
I have 62,000 word project on her Tunstall & Turnock family.

Is Wokingham in Berkshire or Wiltshire?

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Pancras Look up Shuillier
« on: Monday 02 October 06 16:44 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I am having one of those spelling problems with transcriptions.  I cant blame them as they do so many and where would we all be without their help?

Charles William Smith b.1871 marriage to Emilie Flora Shuillier b.1882.  Charles William Smith can be found marrying in June Quarter 1903 in Pancras district, volume 1b page 120 refers however SHUILLIER has been indexed incorrectly in national indexes due to the transcriber misreading the spelling.
Can anyone do a look up please?

Victor Gustave Shuillier, an engraver, married Eullalie (middle name Elizabeth?) Shuillier formerly Audinet in previous generation date unknown.

Any Shuillier BMD or census info in Pancras (St. Pancras) appreciated, thanks
regards Gareth
