Gloucestershire / National Childrens Home, Stroud (CLOSED)
« on: Friday 10 February 12 13:08 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I am trying to find the name and location of th National Childrens Home in Stroud. I was there in the 1950's and all I can remember it was very large with gardens and a lawn in the front. I can remember walking of a footpath through the gate which had a high wall either side and as I walked towards the house on my right was a long narrow building where you washed and had a bath. It was a short distance from Stratford Park and the school I went to was not very far from the park. That was a small one roomed building which was greyish. Again you walked off the footpath and into the school. I have been trying for years to get the name and location. I have been back quite a few times but Stroud has changed, who knows it may still be in use not as a childrens home.

Staffordshire / The Gigg House, Alton, Staffordshire
« on: Wednesday 01 February 12 20:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I am looking for any images or any memories from any one who had relatives or even lived in this house. It was situated beside what was the train track in the churnet valley below the woods of Alton Towers.  All that is left of what used to be the house is rubble and a part of a boundry wall, and is over grown with trees. I would like to information to add to my images that I have uploaded onto Midlands Heritage

Anyone local to Alton and want to see it. Go to the Old Mill and walk down the train track towards Denstone and you will come to a gate and public footpath which takes you into Alton Towers properity  to the right of this gate that is where the Gigg used to be.

World War Two / BLAKEMAN (Oulton Staffordshire)
« on: Friday 26 August 11 12:18 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Donald John Owen Blakeman (Burma Star Association)

This person is at rest in Oulton Churchyard, Staffordshire. I have uploaded an image of his headstone on to a military site. I would be interested in his unit, army number, in order to fill in some blank spaces. He fought for our freedom and this is my way of saying thankyou, by keeping his name alive.

Sydney Evelyn Walters, M.C.

I would be very interested in his military background, not detailed, unit and number. as I have uploaded the image of his grave onto a military site and would like to fill in the blank spaces. He fought for our freedom, now I want to do my bit that we do not forget him.

Hi

Wishful thinking web site is no longer connected to the GENUKI Pages.

The above site is being revamped, but can still be accessed and nothing has been lost.

There is also another new site which may be of interest, connected to wishful thinking, see link, http://churchdb.gukutils.org.uk/GLS766.php
