Lincolnshire / Missing parents marriage based on 1829 Baptism
« on: Wednesday 06 January 21 23:41 GMT (UK)  »
John Mucklow, bapt  22 Feb 1829 at Leadenham, parents Robert (occ farmer), and Sarah.

I can't find a marriage of a Robert and Sarah in Lincs.

There is a Robert Mucklow (bachelor) to Ann Linney (spinster) marriage at Leadenham in 1825

The following 1841 census at Leadenham just serves to confuse even more;
Robert b1801 occ; farmer
Ann b1801
John b1829

Any ideas appreciated.

Family History Beginners Board / John Irvin, mariner; drowned, died or ran away?
« on: Tuesday 05 January 21 23:05 GMT (UK)  »
I'm really struggling with this chap, a direct ancestor and brickwall.

I haven't found a baptism and only have his marriage cert which is almost worthless in terms of information.

Marriage 18 May 1848 Parish Church, Tynemouth

John Irvin "of full age", occ; mariner, bachelor, son of John Irvin, occ; sawyer
Elizabeth Boag "a minor", spinster, dau of Richard Boag occ; waterman

He isn't with the family in 1851 or 1861 though Elizabeth is recorded as married. In 1871 she is a widow and head of the house.

The birth index shows an Elizabeth Ann Irvin mmn Boag born Tynemouth district in 1867, she appears in the 1871 mentioned above.

Two main issues are that I have no real clue when John was born and can't pin down a death.
I'm stuck with the 1848 marriage cert and 1867 birth of the daughter but can't find anything backwards of forwards from it to open up avenues to explore.

Link to my flickr album featuring pictures of people and weddings taken by my photographer relatives in Coalville. I have been able to identify a small number of people in some of the images and it seems there may be one or two wedding photos spanning marriages of consecutive generations.

I still have a few to scan and add to the album as well as edit details on some existing images.
Follow the link and click an image for a larger hi res view. Feel free to have a look and add any comments or additional information to the images.

Leicestershire / Burial details 1930, Coalville area
« on: Friday 20 November 20 13:10 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to burial details for the Coalville area in the 1930's please?

I have a parish burial register of a relative in June 1930 for John Goulson of Belvoir Road Coalville and I'm trying to find where he is buried.

Lincolnshire / Samuel Chambers b1840, Lincoln
« on: Monday 16 November 20 03:58 GMT (UK)  »
In my tree I have a marriage in 1828 for John Chambers to Ann Chambers at Wragby.
Using baptisms for their children and later census they appear to move to Lincoln around 1830.

I've got a baptism in 1840 for Samuel Chambers, son of John (a labourer) and Ann, abode Broadgate.
A likely birth ref to match;
   CHAMBERS, SAMUEL       CHAMBERS
GRO Reference: 1840  J Quarter in LINCOLN UNION  Volume 14  Page 419

I can't find the family at all in 1841. By 1851 John is in the workhouse, Ann is living in Hungate Court, no sign of Samuel at all in either address or in any other census.

I can only assume he died pre 1851 and there is a possible match in Lincoln in 1850 but no burial listed on FindMyPast and the papers don't cover 1850 for a possible death notice.

Short of getting the cert which I don't really want to do just now is there anything else I can try?  I'm just bothered it might be a workhouse death like John in 1852 and the informant details prove useless as confirmation that he's "my" Samuel.

Lincolnshire / Lincoln Workhouse death 1852-Looking for the burial
« on: Saturday 14 November 20 13:30 GMT (UK)  »
I have a death certificate from 1852 at the Lincoln Union Workhouse but unable to locate a burial record anywhere.

FindMyPast doesn't have it listed as I think it's a bit earlier than their records (or simply hasn't been transcribed).

The 1851 census shows the deceased in the workhouse with three of his children and he's noted as "head" in inverted commas with the children noted as son/daughter as applicable.
His wife and remaining children are in Hungate Court.

Up until a few weeks ago I could download and save my files from TP in ged format but since the recent update they download and I have to open the file before the option to save. They open in as a text file and can only be saved as a text file not the .ged format.

Any suggestions please?

Lincolnshire / And now a mystery George Chambers 1875 Lincoln
« on: Monday 03 August 20 23:58 BST (UK)  »
Following on from my Charlotte Northage nee Chambers thread I've really hit a brickwall

I discovered Charlotte spent time darting backwards and forwards between Lincoln and Worksop for many years and after being widowed in Worksop in 1866 had a few more children registered in the surname of Northage. in the 1881 Census she is in Hungate Lincoln and there's a boarder in the household by the name of James Allen.

Charlotte and James went to America taking some of her kids with them and both are buried in Lockport Cemetery, New York.

I've just stumbled across a 1911 census for Lincoln;

133 Carholme Road

George Chambers 1875 Police Pensioner b Lincoln
Ida May Chambers 1881 Lockport, New York USA
John Chambers (son) 1903 USA
George Chambers (son) 1907 USA
Phyllis Jessie Chambers (dau) 1908 Lincoln

CHAMBERS, PHYLLIS  JESSIE  mmn WELCH  GRO Reference: 1907  D Quarter in LINCOLN  Volume 07A  Page 465

I have one George Chambers in my tree born in 1875 (son of George Chambers and Ellen/Helen Broughton), but he's not the same chap and I have him in 1911 living at River View Waterside South.

I'm stumped, it seems too much of a coincidence that Lincoln and Lockport would connect to the family by chance but the only other George Chambers  births around that time aren't part of my tree.
